game won't launch

I was looking forward to playing but the game won't launch. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling plus all the advice i got from the help page and i still can not play. Please help me if you have had the same problem and fixed it

Same problem here.
Windows 7 Professional ; Intel(2) Core (UM) i5-4590 CPU ; Gigabyte B85-HD3 Motherboard (16GB of RAM).

Hi everybody,

I think there is a way to solve the issue !
Actually I encountered the same bug with another RPGMaker game, with a close differennce: the developper answered me ;)
His advice were to update NW.js (the launcher). It's quite easy (replace the locales folder files by the new ones AND the files in the root folder).
So I did the same with The Ghosts of Hackney Mills and the game launched.
However, achievements may not work. Can't tell for sure but in the other RPGMaker where I had the same problem, updating NW.js resulted in the achievements not unlocking when meeting the requirements. It's sad but at least we can now play the game we bought until the dev team fixes this (if they plan to do so.. :)

I think it has something to do with the NW.js version.

I've got the same isue. The game did work, but not anymore. Replacing the nw.js files did not work.
Is there any news?

Dev please fix this, it's been reported months ago...

Hey, could you please resolve this problem ? Win7 compatibility mode doesn't help, same for Steam Overlay being disabled.

The error message I get is:
[0207/095707.332:ERROR:http_transport_win.cc(127)] WinHttpCrackUrl: The URL does not use a recognized protocol (0x2ee6)

So after a few tests, I used the depot technique to get the game to work

The main exe compatibility mode was changed to Windows 7 as well.

From the Steam console, type in:
download_depot 739240 739242 7696861041445686081

Overwrite the current installation files and launch the game from the exe itself, not from Steam.
If the first achievement doesn't unlock, try again after restarting the game. Good luck.

I tried your method but achievements are still not unlocking for me, where should the first achievement unlock?
