'Log in to access content' message and game is stuck there

Every time I start the game it says 'You have to be logged in to a profile to access this content.' and the game will not continue no matter what buttons I press.

I am already logged into my steam account and I could clearly see my online friends and those who are playing games.

What is going on?

I re-installed the game and it just worked again.
