Controller's problem while starting battle
Hey, I stopped playing this game a few months ago, I am trying to finish it now, but for some reason, my controllers works just fine until I enter a battle. The moment a combat starts, I lose the ability to do anything. Even if my allies kill the enemies, I still can't do anything once the battle is over, my controller just doesn't work. I tried to play a few times, but the problem persists even tho I did not have it in the past.

It may be worth noting that I am using a Nintendo Switch Controller now, which I wasn't using back in the days. Anyone has a solution for this issue ? I do not have this kind of problem with any other game.

You need to enter the Artes menu and make sure your character in the First Slot is set to either Semi-Auto or Manual. And maybe just reset the button config and default see if it solves anything. Another possible solution is to go to Steam settings > Controller config > General controller config > Make sure to tick Nintendo support. Or you can try to open the game in big picture mode.

Well, I just tried all of the above. Nothing worked. I made sure that my Steam's Settings are fine, that my in-game's controller's and character's are too. But as always, even tho my game works just fine on the map and in cities, the moment that a battle starts, my controller stops working. If I smash every button of my controller during combat, the game will detect a single imput every 10-20sec. After the battle is over, my controller doesn't work on the map anymore either.

I would try disabling the nintendo support thing instead. I only have joycons with me, but if the Pro Controller is anything like it, it's just a DInput device, which the game already supports on its own.
(make sure you're seeing PlayStation button prompts in-game, as this indicates that a DInput controller is being used)

As a last resort, go to the controls settings screen. Clear every button assignment that's already there (both for roaming around and battles), and then remap them manually. Write down the original mapping before doing this if you want to stick to the default controls.

None of this worked either, Ima soon buy another gaming controller or I'll see if playing with a keyboard works, I'd be willing to finish this game at least once.

I don't know why it does that, I don't have any problems with any other game.
If you're still interested, you might also try using BetterJoy:

https://github.com/Davidobot/BetterJoy

This will map all your Pro Con inputs into a virtual Xbox/PS4 controller (a bit like the Steam support thing, except Windows sees this as an actual controller), which in theory, should play a lot nicer with the game.

For some reason, nothing worked. I just bought a new controller, everything is fine now.

Are you sure this was a controller issue? I'm having the exact same problem and the controller works perfectly fine on any other game...

I feel you, my controller worked in any other games just fine. But for some reason, it didn't worked proprelly on Vesperia. It saddens me to tell you that, but I had to buy another one to play this game.
