then hit "add to account"

then exit the game completely.

open the store in steam and navigate to the dlc you want to acess and go to its store page.
scroll down and click this option

then you should be able to find your dlc in the items menu here

I followed these steps exactly and the adventurers pack that I failed to obtain easily was activated. these steps may not be entirely necesarry as I did not need to do all this to gain the costume pack, but I hope this helps someone. if you cannot get your dlc after following these steps, I suggest checking your anti-virus software or doing a fresh install of the game and trying again.

  1. Activate big picture mode (click the box at the upper right corner of Steam that looks like it has arrows pointing to the far corners)

  2. Click on Store

  3. Tales of Vesperia should be there, if not, click "Search" at the bottom of the screen and search by name

  4. Click the "DLC" button on the left hand side

  5. Click to the DLC that needs to be installed

  6. There should be an "Add to game" button... you'll have to do this for both DLC

so the good news is this is fixable.. the bad news is that it really is an issue with Steam's UI and giving tons of people a headache. Care to mark this as a solution on your topic OP so others can realize the difference between what you were seeing and what I was seeing?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see someone stated it.. but here are instructions just in case.

EDIT 2:

Steps in case you are not sure how to turn off Big Picture Mode easily
  1. Click the steam logo on the upper left corner of the screen to go back to the Home Screen

  2. Click the Power button on the upper right (Circle with vertical line in the middle)

  3. Click Exit Big Picture

I've just gotta say I never expected Big Picture Mode to be a troubleshooting step. Oi, whatta headache.

I would like to request a sticky/pin for the topic to help those with this issue until an official fix is made, but I have never requested a sticky before.

OH, and I've updated my ticket with steam to let them know. Others may still want to send in tickets so they know it's a wide spread issue though.

for me it went into big picture. thats how it worked for me

but when i did it his way it came up in big picture mode and it was there saying add to account.

... I didn't see this, and I can't believe it worked.

Steam gave me a boilerplate response, so I've sent them the link to this thread again. I want them to understand this is a steam UI bug not an issue on our ends.
