How to make it night at Niffel Lake

I am in act 3 (post tarq rising, so the lake is drained) but no matter what I do I cannot make it night at niffel lake to magic lens the gentlemieu. I have used at least 50 mats/tents and I just can't get night to appear. Help plz.

You can't change the weather on this entire continent until you've done the next story event; for some reason they require that it is daytime for those events.
