It's got strong characters with well developed backstories.
The overarching plot is well written and executed.
The battle system has a ton of depth, and builds off of what made Symphonia and Abyss' great.
I loved Symphonia when I first played it, and I still love it. But Vesperia. It's so much more.
If you liked the Symphonia style, then you'll certainly love Vesperia.
Gameplay wise its an updated version of Symphonia and Abyss' gameplay. It has the overworld, TP, puzzles, etc. and everything is more refined.
The story and characters are also great like Symphonia and Abyss/Berseria.
.
If you haven't played Abyss, btw, give that a go (weaker gameplay than Vesperia but strong narrative, setting, themes, music, etc), and cross your fingers and hope that some day Tales of Innocence R makes its way over here, because that's another one that feels very similar to these games and imo is one of the most underrated installments in the series.
Tbf Symphonia's story was something special.
But what makes Vesperia the clear winner for me is the characters. Lloyd from Symphonia was unlikeable for most of the game, Yuri on the other hand is an awesome character.
but really, is a matter opf personal preferences
'I prefer eye candy over scary armor any day.' made me cry of laughter, and it's a dumb line...
Symphonia, really the only thing I felt could even be better than Vesperia is the world building. I've played pretty much every mothership and former mothership title and it's a bit surprising for me to see people still prefer Abyss to any degree. Not that people can't like it or anything. Usually the first game someone plays holds something special for someone and that title is not surprisingly Symphonia.
It's pretty likely you'll enjoy Vesperia. Same team that did Symphonia and Abyss. Most people who actually played it weren't up in arms over Vesperia to any degree.
