Mobas inherently cater to the different playerbase than Dynasty Warrior clones.
It's like releasing Call of Duty that is a racing game and then wondering why it's not successful.
I like NGB and I firmly believe it's a good game, but it never had a chance to not be hated by old Gundam Breaker fans.
For Gundam games on PC, ♥♥♥♥ man just emulate a Gundam Battle game or GVG Next Plus, PPSSPP is a hell of a drug. PCSX2 works great too, and RPCS3 is building up a pretty impressive library last I knew.
The camera controls are also worse.
In a vacuum, NGB isn't a great game but it's not terrible either. It's a great Gunpla builder but the gameplay is floaty and leaves a lot to be desired.
In comparison to the series it came from, it's a downgrade in most aspects other than graphics and parts catalog.
And while I agree with the sentiment behind "Something is better than nothing" and say it often myself, you have to be careful with that mentality when dealing with businesses, as they can try to take advantage of that mentality to take advantage of you as a consumer. A lot of people feel that way especially when dealing with Japanese products exported worldwide. Sure, we'd rather get something than nothing, but the stuff we do get feels like table scraps every now and then. Sometimes there's a pattern that the stuff we get in the West is hated and does poorly in Japan.
Which can mean at least two conclusions... either they suck because they planned to sell it to the West, or they sold it to the West only because it sucked and they wanted to make more money back on their investment because they weren't happy with the money they got out of the Japanese Market.
This.
I guess you could argue that all the inconsistencies are because of the "New" in the game but you can't really excuse the really bad port. They, honestly, could've made SO MUCH MORE MONEY if they just did a proper port of Gundam Breaker 3. Or better yet, actually make New Gundam Breaker a worthy sequel.
I don't know how much they would really get with a GB3 port but I do really hope they either do port it or better yet just make a new Gundam Breaker game and bring back those features people want.
Leveling up parts would have added so much more value to making my own custom builds since I would worry less about stats and more about using what I like. I'd also like to see them let you equip your movesets onto parts rather than have them fixed.
Edit: Nevermind, I checked, alot of people still want 200+ for them... maybe next month
If you have a PC there are other options to play PS3 games like Gundam Breaker 2 which is great game with 1 downside its not in english but all the menu text is english.
