Here it is.
I was piloting a Don Tropen and I just barely dodged to the side at the last moment, making Amuro graze my leg with his beam rifle. Went in with my heat saber and slashed Gundam in half. That was a great day for Zeon.
Gundam VS Zeta is my favorite out of the VS franchise. I loved the “what if” scenarios and how you could change everybody’s fate in Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
Too bad you never got a chance to play DWG Reborn. It improved upon the DWG2 model. I’d recommend it if you ever have access to a PS3.
I remember the simulator mission where you take on a Gundam in the city. I squeeked by but it was intense. I lost two of my three squads to Amuro. I figured out numbering him would give me an advantage and I just blundered into him.
I was left with just MCPO Austin in his Zaku I. I was out of grenades. I was on one side of a building and the Gundam was on another. That was all I knew. I stood rock still weighing my options. I really had nothing left to throw at it to give me an advantage. The Gundam had stopped moving when it stopped detecting me but it was just lurking on the other side of the building.
I had to take a chance. I had to run out one side and gun it down. My only chance was to guess. If I ran out in front it would take the Zaku bazooka shot and just rip me apart with a beam rifle or saber. But if I got it in the back... I tried to make it an educated guess but I really had no way of knowing. So I went to my left. I ran out, targeted, and fired on auto pilot. I lucked out. The bazooka shell hit the Gundam's backpack as it started to turn to kill me. The victory screen rolled. I got like a D rank but it was worth it to see the RX-78-2 shot down by a Zaku I.
The simulator mission I did was in the desert, where you take on the White Base crew. Somehow I was able to get in close enough to use my Dom Tropen’s heat saber from the front to finish Gundam off. Taking out Hayato and Kai by myself was easy.
My squad mates lasted just long enough for me to rush him at full speed (with a bit of luck from his first shot missing a vital part of my Dom Tropen).
But anyway there we go, I'll try to be as simple as possible.
PS1 PVP goes to Gundam Battle Assault. I admit I didn't play much of it, but what I played looked amazing and was pretty fun.
PS1 PVE goes to I dunno really, Zeta Gundam? It's not much of a fun game, but has some extra story portions that add a great deal to the TV series. I dunno if those are included into Movie re-editions, but they do serve a bridge between Zeta TV version and CCA.
PS2 PVP goes to Rengou (OMNI) VS Zaft 2 Plus. It strikes the fine balance between slow and heavy Vs Zeta and ultra-fast Extreme series. I also enjoy having all the grunts and unit variations from in-universe, rather than a bunch of flagman gundams, that mostly mimic each other.
PS2 PVE takes Gundam Musou 2 simply because there is an undub patch. Between both PS2 and PS3 versions running at 60 fps, and PS3 version having marginal graphics improvements and terrible DLCs, PS2 version wins hands down.
Dub is abyssal and should not exist period.
PS3 PVP goes to full boost. Simply because it exists. I think it's inferior to VS Zaft 2 in more ways than one, but it's still good and fast competitive action game with Gundam name on it.
PS3 PVE goes to Gundam Musou 4 (aka Reborn/Shin/DWG4) obviously. I don't think I need to elaborate on that.
PSP PVP goes to nothing. I know there is a VS game on it as well, but I can't possibly care to play competitively on a handheld toy.
PSP PVE goes to Assault Survive probably, but simply because it's fast and easy to play on the go, and has some underrated and barely known suits from Plus series, of which only Delta ever broke through into the mainstream games.
PC PVP should probably go to Gundam Online, as it's the only game out there in this category, but I can't be bothered to set up VPN to play ancient p2w arena game that doesn't even have an english patch. So I give it to Ultimate Knight Windom XP instead. You can mod your favorite gundams in it too, and they will function like you would expect them to.
PC PVE goes to emulated DWG2 NGB obviously, because there is nothing else in there.
I played a bit of capsule fighter when it existed in the west, and it was gutter trash and I don't miss it at all.
PS4 goes into the garbage bin, easily the worst sony console to date that might as well not exist.
Vita I might get sometime used. Eventually. But there are basically no games to play on it that interest me.
I was interested in Gundam Breaker 3, but played GB2 for a while I don't really want any more of it, even if it's improved.
NGB is just better take on the idea, and uses much more suiting genre for it as well.
And if I want Gundam beat em up - there are magnificent DWG2 and 4 with much better melee combat systems and even transformable units, something Gundam Breaker franchise severely lacks.
What's the point of making Zeta Plus of my dreams if it can't go into waverider mode? I might as well just play one in Survive or Delta Plus in DWG4.
You don’t seem to have a favorite, at least not one I can glean from this long list. I agree Dynasty Warriors Gundam is way better than the entire Breaker series.
