Multiplayer is dead unless you go to discord and set up a match for it, if that's what you're asking.
oh my friend... I'm sorry to say, it's long dead.
New Gundam Breaker is considered the worst in the series [continuing Bandai's bad habit of bringing the BAD gundam games to the west.] Even in Japan, NGB ended up with the worst score out of all the games, within days of release, Amazon.jp's review of the game had tanked to 1 star, and was discounted around 95% and the backlash on american amazon was so bad they had to disable the rating system for the game.
If you REALLY need your gundam fix, and have a PS4, I highly recommend you pick up "Gundam Breaker 3: Break Edition" you can find english copies easy enough, as the game did get an english translation for asian terrorities, it just never came officially to the west, however given the PS4 is not region locked, it will be easily playable and completely understandable.
You'll miss out on a few modern mobile suits that are exclusive to NGB[no super fumina for instance], but the customization system in Gundam Breaker 3 is much stronger, the "Frame" system is not there [thank god] and custom parts actually help your mobile suit, and can be crucial at the later stages of the game.
Movement also feels much, much better, where it feels like you're fighting your mobile suit constantly in NGB, GB3's movement system feels snappy and easy to use.
Maybe, if we pressure them enough, they'll release a version of GB3 to the west, or the next gundam breaker game will be better [there is the new mobile game that's, honestly pretty good] but NGB was a terrible idea, mostly stemming from bringing in an entire new team to work on it.
How is f2p model? Does it include any "pay to skip grind" or "pay for convenience" nonsense?
I haven't paid a dime into the game, and I'm sitting some 30+ mobile suits. Most recently they added in the Zeong too. The thing to remember with GBO2 is that it's "Universal Century" mobile suits only, so everything from that timeline will eventually be in play, including more esoteric mobile suits such as the Zudah, or the weird dom variants, ect. Gameplay is solid, but can be tricky to learn at first, thankfully it has a fairly robust tutorial, and the online community is relatively helpful. If you're curious about GBO2, I recommend watching Flaithrough's channel on youtube for more information.
If you have a JPN account on your PS4, you can actually download and play the game now, in english [after adjusting a setting in the options. of which there's easy tutorials online to tell you exactly how to do this] I'm in the EU, and can pretty much always find matches at just about any time of the day without a problem. I highly recommend it for gundam fans.
Also, if you unfortunately don't own a PS4, we have a pretty solid english community for MSGO, which is a JP only 50v50 third person shooter. Moderators here remove messages when I link discord in them, but feel free to add me here if you're interested
