William Afton's Wife and Motive For Murder

Clarification: Now that Fnaf 6 shows the end of the story, I want to talk about the beginning and something that has been bugging me quite some time now: Afton's Wife

Theory: Now we can defenitly conclude that he had one at some point because, as the meatbag MattPat said in his latest Fnaf theory video series, the William Afton that we have seen has no reason to adopt three children. So to start off I'm going to have to go back to where it all began: Fredbears Family Diner.

Now at this time William Afton was happily married and had three children: Michael, Elizabeth, and the crying child from Fnaf 4. Henry and William, best friends, had developed only two suits: Fredbear and Spring Bonnie. Now for some reason, maybe because they were low on cash, maybe because nobody in their right mind would willingly put on a spring lock suit and perform for kids, or maybe even because they just loved kids so much (would explain why it is so easy for Will to lure and manipulate them later, because he was very good at performing for them and knew what they would want to hear) William and his Wife wore the two suits. Now I have yet to decide who wore which suit, as I can argue for either side, but more on that in a little bit. Henry could have also worn the suit instead of Afton's wife. Now William, his wife, and Henry were all very happy with the buisness they had created. But their story doesn't have a happy ending.

Now this is where two paths branch off that are determined on whether Henry or Williams wife normally wore the suit that William did not. The major parts of the story remain the same, but some details are different:

If William's wife wore the suit normally
the gender of the Spring Bonnie suit is female (supported by Spring Bonnie's design in Fnaf world) to reflect Mrs. Afton's gender. One day a kid (maybe even Henry's daughter) caused the springlocks in her suit to trigger, whether it be by an accidental spill of water or some jerk hitting it to see what would happen. She dies and William completly breaks. He turns to alcohol to cope with his grief. This issupported somewhat by the racer minigame secret in which the guy at JR's, a bar, tells William he couldn't let him in, possibly due to him getting into fights with other patrons. When he comes back to work and sees the child outside in the alley a combination of rage and overexcessive drinking causes him to kill her (if Henry's daughter accidently triggered the springlocks it might fit better). As he stands over her with his blood on his hands, he realises what he has just done and the insanity overtakes him. After all it only takes one bad day. If Will's wife wore the suit, it would also explain his morbid fascination with it, especially in the books.

If Henry normally wore the suit, then his was Fredbear and William's was Spring Bonnie. This is supported by Spring Bonnie's look in the reflection of the fruit maze game, where it looks much more masculine, to reflect William's gender. This would also explain how easily Will was able to use the suit better, because he was used to it. Now as I said most of the story is the same, except on the fateful day Henry is sick and Will's wife uses fredbear instead. This would also explain shadow fredbear in the fnaf 3 minigames, it's Mrs. Afton leading the animatronics to William so that their spirits can be free. It would also make sense because Will, in his grief, might blame Henry for his wife's death because if he was there it wouldn't have happened, therefore killing his daughter to get back at him.

One last thing I would like to add because I couldn't fit it in anywhere else is that the reason the crying child is always crying is because he saw his mother get springlocked right in front of him, corresponding to the "don't you remember what you saw" line, and fueling the crying child's fear and hatred of the restaraunt and animatronics. It would also explain why the crying child runs away multiple times as told to us in the racer minigame, because his mother died and his father is drinking and not taking care of them. The drunkeness and, or insanity could also explain the voice in William's head that tells him "this is my house, he can't ignore me like that" in the midnight racer minigame.

Now, as I typed this up I realized that the "Afton's wife wore the Fredbear suit" explanation, mostly due to the reflection in the fruit maze game. But what do you guys think? Is there any truth in this theory? I guess only time will tell. This was mostly speculation, but it is the only theory that I know of for what happened.

Tldr; Afton loves his wife, wife dies in springlock failure, Afton drinks to cope with grief, child murder ensues.

I've got my own theory:

I think that the yellow guy is actually Henry. After William killed Henry's daughter (who became the Puppet) Henry was left with his other child and wife. Henry resorts to alcoholism and becomes somewhat of an abusive father after being struck with grief over his daughter's death. The secret mound in the driving minigame could be Henry's daughter's grave. When Henry says "Ran off to that place again. He will be sorry when he gets back.", he could be referring to how his son ran off to visit his sister's grave. That doesn't explain the animatronic footprints leading towards the broken window, though.


Springtrap/Spring Bonnie is DEFINITELY Purple Guy/William, this is confirmed in FNaF 3. William uses the Spring Bonnie suit to lure kids and kill them, until one night the spirits of the kids come to him for vengeance. William hides inside his old murder suit, Spring Bonnie, thinking he will be safe but in his haste the spring locks fail and Willam Afton dies, becoming Springtrap.

When Psychic Friend Fredbear (that's a Game Theorists reference BTW, I'm talking about the Fredbear plushie from the FNaF 4 minigames) says "remember what you saw", I think he is talking about the child witnessing his father killing four kids (who the Puppet put into Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy).

Speculation: Could be. However I still think that the yellow guy is William, because the house in the minigame is somewhat similar to the Fnaf 4 house, a crying child with his door locked, and an older brother (Michael) not caring too much. The reason Scott made him yellow is because of the whole "Purple guy is Michael" controversy after SL. Will isn't actually purple, the purple was just use to represent him in the minigame. Michael IS purple after SL, because he's basically a walking talking rotting corpse.

Theory: I believe that the girl in the fruit maze game is one of Afton's murders after the Puppet. After all you can see Spring Bonnie in the backround leaning in toward her, obviously with Will inside it.

Well, in the good ending the guy talking to you refers to Springtrap/William as "my old friend" and in the insanity ending I think he mentions building some of the animatronics.

Agreement: This. Also he knows an awful lot about all the animatronics, enough to lure them all to the restaraunt and keep them contained there. He also would need a motive to revive the company to bring them all together and destroy them. Finally, in the HRY tape, he says that he is somewhat responsible for what William today, and his words strongly suggest that he helped create the Funtime animatronics. He also says that he created the original gang i.e. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and references the events in the Fnaf 3 minigames.
