Why does Springtrap look different?
Title says it all.

Because the fire in FNaF 3. And probably because he had to fix himself with scrap.

But, I mean, we saw what he looked like after the fire, why is it that his face is a completely different model, has undamaged spots on his body that were damaged in FNAF 3, etc. etc.

Scott decided to tweak the model for the game, in so doing he probably fixed some things that HE WANTED to fix about the original design while making Springtrap fit into the story in the way that SCOTT wanted it to fit in.

Sadly the only change that Scott made that I like is that he finally gave him pawed rabbit feet.

Otherwise like you said HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE SPRINGTRAP FROM FNAF 3.

And I know this is me being very nit picky and complaining, but this is my favorite character of the series, and I have never griped about much yet this design for Springtrap is just ugly and not true to the original in my opinion.

Gone is that beautiful, hideously permanent wide toothed smile in a rounded head.
Gone are those wonderfully human-like luminescent wide eyes that gaze into your soul.
Gone is the distinctly subtle face that distinguished him on sight as something part rabbit and part human.
Gone are those ears that hang at jaunty angles giving him an added depth of expression.
Gone is that robust body frame that told you there was more than just robot parts inside this machine.

Practically everything that made Springtrap what he was is GONE.

And again, I find it hard to grasp that William Afton, a man who built, maintained, dismantled, and repaired Animatronics, was UNABLE to REPAIR himself FULLY after being in a fire -

Yet BABY, Elizabeth Afton, a child possessed robot, with ZERO mechanical experience, was able to completely reassemble herself from the ground up from things like TRAFFIC LIGHTS and ROLLER SKATES, complete with a claw arm and all her limbs -

But Springtrap is still missing parts?!

Cut the guy some slack. He lost an arm in that fire.

And he managed to fix his voice box at least.

If you think about fnaf 2, and how the withered animatronics don't look like the one's in fnaf 1. It's probably to give springtrap a new design. Otherwise it would be a copy and paste. scott Isn't lazy you know.

I mean, they obviously look different because they are completely different animatronics, of course they don't look the same, story wise, that is why. I see no reason in the story as to why Springtrap's model is different.

Stylistic choice, not everything that Scott does has to tie in with the lore.

Cut the guy some slack. He lost an arm in that fire.

And Baby was expelled in an unknown state, which could have been with ZERO limbs for all we know, and if so she came out with a fully functioning body.

I'm more than willing to concede that Springtrap was damaged in the fire, but to say that he was incapable of repairing himself fully after the fire to me in ridiculous.
I loved the original springtrap model so much. He looked like a freaky badass, and I loved how every time he opened this mouth you could easily see the Purple Guy YES I KNOW THIS WILLIAM AFTON STUFF IS HERE BUT I WILL STILL CALL HIM THE PURPLE GUY in there.

Well, I think he looks different because now is when he is killed in the suit. I don't know much about FNAF 3, but I think then he was just in his murder suit. Then, he got killed, maybe during the fire even. The suit becomes more accustomed to the shape of a human. The new Springtrap looks more human like. Also, this may have to do with nothing, but The Twisted Ones book says this about twisted animatronic, which are spring lock. "Before their eyes, the fractured and worn face became fluid and smooth, warping into something life-like" Now the books aren't cannon and Springtrap is still fractured and worn, but it might follow the same aspects as in this book. A disk controlled how they looked by illusion. Well, that's my theory.

FNaF 1 takes place after FNaF 2, the FNaF 1 animatronics are remodels of the original ones, at the Freddy Fazbears before fnaf 2.
They are fixed up versions of the ones in FNaF 2 withered animatronics, thats why some people call them old animatronics.
