Every F1 game I played so far is broken in some way. This game is not perfect because of the AI. I like hard difficulty but I like fair play too. I would never ram at other cars like they do in this game.
I remember that the game Forza 6 apex, had the difficulty setting for how good the AI were, and a different setting for how aggressive they were. So if someone like to play carnage mode, whatever. But this is Formula 1. This is not arcade racing. You don't want to touch anyone on the track. At first I thought it was a problem because the AI was "not seeing" me. But later I discovered that this is not the case. They do it because they are dumb.
It's not the case in this example I gave. If I stay on the right side of the track, just before the left turn, they come FULL FORCE to the right side. In real life, they would come close, but not all the way like you are not even there.
It's not about overtaking. The AI of this game really wants to stick to their imaginary racing line. The order given for them is: stick to the line no mater what. And they follow this order no matter what.
But anyway, now I'm using the replay feature to go back in time. So I'm not mad anymore with this game. I just feel lame doing that. But yeah anyway.
By the way I'm not aggressive in racing simulators. I'm not aggressive like they are in F1 in real life for example. This is not about the AI being aggressive. this is about the AI not making smart decisions on the go. But this is 2018. I don't know how things are in 2020. Maybe they are smarter.
It's not BS, learn to drive properly and make smarter decisions when trying go protect your line.
It's BS. Yesterday I was playing a full 100% race at Hungary. 3 different cars hit me from behind on corner 13 throughout the race, loosing their wings. It happened 3 times, gimme a break. The AI of this game is dumb as hell. My guess is that they were trying to overtake me in this corner and breaking later. But they are dumb and always hit me in the end. I see a lot of times they breaking later to defend or attack a position, even locking their tires, and sometimes they do mistakes. But yesterday was the verdict. The AI of this game is HORRIBLE.
Here is a great example of AI stupidity.
I'm in the orange McLaren on the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit in Canada. The two other cars in the video are AI. It has just rained, the track is almost dry, I accelerate a little too hard, and I spin out.
I'm at 45 degrees on the track, I can't see anything in the mirror, I back up, but despite the flashing light warning of an accident, I get hit from behind, the AI doesn't slow down. So ok, it can happen...But the most serious thing is the second car which does not slow down at all and hits the other AI with full force, destroys everything and goes back as if nothing had happened... Incredible !!!!
