No particular game has the power to shutdown a PC. They can BSOD a PC. They can overheat a PC. They can even damage some hardware (in the olden days)...
... try running some other AAA demanding game and see if THAT one is causing your PC to shutdown too.
If not, it is NOT the PSU. If so, you are drawing more power than the PSU can handle. These power supply units can 'age'. They are the first thing that dies in an - otherwise - 'fine' PC.
Nothing else ever failed.
Thanks for your reply! So I never ever had any problems regarding shutdown in other games. If you know X-Plane 11, I´ve been running it on Max AA without problems. Or also other games like GTA, PUBG, Rainbow etc. Only happened to me in F1 2018. I´ll try to set down some settings in my F1 2018 as I play on max and see if it still crashes.
If you would have checked my profile you would see them. But I´m still going to list them here:
i5 8600k @4,9GHz
Cooler Master ML240L Watercooler
Asus Z370-P Mainboard
16GB RAM
RTX 2080
500 Watt be quiet! Pure Power 10 80Plus Silver PSU
If you were to ask me when you built the system, if you did that is, "is a 500w Power supply enough?" I would probably say no, whilst it might be technically there are other factors to take into consideration such as efficiency and how many devices are connected to the system.
You for sure want a 600w PSU in that rig Minimum in this builders opinion :P. But considering you are not hitting any issues in other games and racing games not being all that demanding (most racing games can be played at 4k ultra including this one with your current setup, I know this as my i7 4790k @4.4GHz - 16GB DDR3 - GTX 1080Ti system can) I cannot say for certain but I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility.
Thanks for your reply! I know that 500 Watt is really tough with an RTX 2080. I bought the RTX 2080 afterwards as I expected the power consumption wont be much different to the GTX 1080 Ti. But I never experienced any problems with it in other games playing on 2k resolution as I mentioned and as you wrote. Thats why it is strange to me.
I got the following system:
- AMD 2700X @ 8x 4,25Ghz which draws more power than the 7700k ( +50-75% !!! )
- 16GB DDR4 3466 C14 @ 1,4v
- Gigabyte GTX 1080Ti ( which is the same or a bit higher in power consumption than a RTX 2080)
My PSU is a Be Quiet Straight Power E10 550 CM and powerdraw from the complete system under full load ( all parts! ) is not even close to 450W.
His system shouldn't even be close to 400W and this would even not be happening with 7700k @ 5,0Ghz @ 1,40v!
Did you check Win 10 event log?
If the game crashes - look directly in that minute what was going on.
Thanks to everyone for your help!
After all the higher the load, the higher the heat.
Edit: Corrected spelling :P
↑ This is probably the correct answer however hwmonitor has no in-game display, Use hwinfo instead.
You probably might want to replace your CPU or motherboard fan. One of them probably can't run at max speed.
