Why F1 cars are RWD and not 4WD?
Why are F1 cars are rear wheel drive and not 4 wheel drive like rally cars?

Four-wheel drive F1 cars would be considerably heavier, more mechanically complicated, and be prone to understeer on track.

the increase in weight would lose more lap time than youd gain from the increase in traction, when you have that much downforce and youre only ever on tarmac, its just dead weight really
