Crackling noise with career car
So I'm racing with Williams and I've put up with this issue for a while but decided to ask for help.
At high speed I get this annoying crackling noise but only in my career mode.
If I run the same track and Williams in GP mode I don't get the noise.
I've tried the different audio modes and changed my refresh rate with no effect.
I've tried validating the files but again no change.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?
(Besides that my career WIlliams car is so crap it makes that noise on purpose;)

I don't have all the issues mentioned in this thread but I hope the mentioned 1.07 patch also helps me.

I have this sound happening in my Mclaren on career mode. I found out it was due to my MGU-H that has a wear of 85%. After swapping it out, the sound disappears.

same with me (Career Sauber). The noise is linied to the engine parts' wear and disappears with updated parts.
It' is no bug, it is just cool !

Hmm I know the ICE gets very growly when it gets to high wear but I really noticed the crackling in China and none of my components had got past 30% wear by that stage. Though it would explain why it only occurs in career mode.
I'll test it out in Spain as my components are at just shy of 40% so I'll try a completely new set for qualifying and the race and see if the sound disapears.
I appreciate signs of a component showing wear like the ICE noise which I actually kind of like, but if it is the noise of the MGU-H I I would hope it would appear past 50% or so as the crackling is very annoying.

Tested it with fresh components and the noise is still there.
The only thing I can think of is that it is the noise of a worn MGU-H but it is being activated all the time, perhaps it is a Williams specific bug/feature.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Can you watch a replay and tell me if your car is touching the ground in both of those situations?
Because in my career mode, I have the same problem with the car allways touching the track and this is causing this anoying sound, and the ride height seems to do very little to dodge that.

Pretty sure its the ride height bug, got the same noise on most tracks at high speed.

Sauber in career, get it on 5-5, 7-7 and 9-9 ride height. And yes the car hits ground all the time at high speed, spark shower 24/7.

Worst at Spa thou, did 5-5 on that track and car became a bobsled trou Eau Rouge.

Ok I've tried it with the 1.07 patch but it hasn't changed things. If anything it is now present in GP mode. The setup for the car is the preloaded "balanced" setup so shouldn't be riding too low.
I do agree it might be this sound being activated incorrectly as in the GP video it appears most noticably when the car reaches the edge of the track.
I've included external view but there doesn't appear to be sparks indicating bottoming out.

I've posted on the Codemasters forum as a bug so hopefully will get picked up.
