How to use mic in this game?

I speak into my headset mic but nothing happens.
How to enable please?

You need to map a control to Voice command then press it and speak.

You also need to setup your headset properly in the audio settings.

Well, my headset works outside of the game fine.
But I cant see any option in game to set it up.

same issue here... also didn't find any setting ingame to select the mic.
same setup worked perfectly in f1 2017

It should automatically pick up your mic. I've not changed anything in the options and I've been able to speak to the engineer with no problems.

Yeah didn't work for me at the start, but I reinstalled windows since playing 17 and noticed 18 didn't try to install any language programs.

Found the installers in the game folder and installed my LangPack, works fine now.

Works for me although i had to change egineer audio out in game settings to the headset.hope this helps.

Thanks dude, but there is no such option in audio settings in the game.
Where did you find such an option?

There's a wizard to help you get started. Just plug in your microphone, and then, in the search box on the taskbar, type Speech Recognition, and select Windows Speech Recognition.
And take it from there/


In the game your mic should get selected automatically. Check your mic to ensure it's enabled and the volume level is set correctly, also you may need to check your game to ensure the files (runtime if I recall correctly) required have been installed. They were re-installed for me after I downloaded and started the game. It got updated with the runtime files prior to the game loading.

After doing long reseach I have found out the issue.
If you start the game with your microphone muted (this includes your microphone in the up position if you are using a mic headset) then the game will not recognize the microphone even if you unmute it during the game.
For the game to recognise your mic you have to first unmute your microphone and have your mic in the down speaking position then launch the game this will then acknowledge your mic.
