I say weapon choice depends on your level and talent setup. I was using the halberd until I got the concentrated brews combo going with bloodlust and then I went back to regular 2h sword (because hammer has that horrible and common movespeed bug atm). Spamming strength or speed potions with the constant wide arcs is absurd. Honestly just always go for the strength potion and even on Champion you'll just blow through anything and keep your HP near max with the level 20 talent selection (Temp HP on Kill).
If I've got friends I can depend on then I use sword and board + strength potion + concentrated brews perk. Seriously, that perk+talent combo redefines how you play Kruber.
was wondering why do I feel so uncomfortable each time I used hammer :< What about trinket stats for 2h? Preferably Crit/attack speed?
Made some testing with Halberd vs Mercenary Greatsword and Executioners, and there was a difference of ~ 1000 damage almost every time (Executioner bugged out every once in a while as well, passing straight through enemies).
Coach Gun is preferable as long as you have a sniper, otherwise the automatic one is great if you're either Squire of Mercenary. Longbow can kill boss-mobs in seconds if you're playing Huntsman.
So Tl;dr: Halberd Numero uno, Coach Gun if sniper on team, Longbow if Huntsman and Automatic otherwise.
*edit: The Arming sword can perform oddly well, but haven't used it in harder difficulties since Halberd
