common folks vs revolutionaries
can someone tell me why they are opposing sides?
as far as I know working class was the main force of revolution?
even in wiki Robespierre is Deputy to the Estates General
for the Third Estate, which is working class!

so why are they opposing sides???

In the historical french Revolution deputies came from all France, including more conservative areas. At the same time there were some political movments rather well etablished within some parts of the parisian people but which had little to no representation in the Convention. One of the leaders of these radical movments was Hébert, which is in the game if I remember correctly. Hébert had some really extremist opinions for the time, like imposing atheism and destroying/convert churches to something else. He was guillotinned because what he did was considered to be counter-revolutionnary by the more moderate majority (he was accused to be intentionnally excessive to discredit the Revolution and to ultimately bring back the monarchy).

So I don't know if it was the kind of answer you expected but what I mean is that the "people" faction from the game represents the parisian people, which didn't always had the same interests than the Convention

The Revolutionaries are motivated by high-minded ideals, notions of liberty, equality, and fraternity. They're also political, having a strong "you're with us or against us" mentality. They want you to crack down on the aristocracy and any other "enemies of the revolution", but also to protect fellow revolutionaries.

The Common People, meanwhile, have more pragmatic goals - survival and passions. They want their psychological needs to be met (and thus feel sympathy for those who committed crime in pursuit of this goal), they want you to punish scary people (and to pardon vigilantes), and they aren't that concerned with nuance.

I'll use as an example an early case there's a fishmonger who vandalized a greengrocer's stall out of jealousy. The commoners want the fishmonger to be punished because he's crooked, the revolutionaries want him to go free because he showed his loyalty to the revolution in the past.
