Does it matter to be excommunicated?
What means to be excommunicated, does it affect my yields?
Playing for Castile and was excommunicated from Catholic church in early game, shalt I hurry for forgiveness? :)

As far as I got, it ends up with Clergy Opinion -10:
- 100% heresy spread, if it means anything, my provinces must be easily converted by any pressure or enemy cleric attempt. I had this for a pretty long time and I had big friendly Sunni neighbor, but all my villages have remained "red cross" religion. So I didn't felt this case.
- -15 stability, this is mediocre stability debuff. Alone it is soft. But with war it is serious.
So I bought forgiveness and with savescumming was forgiven after third attempt.
Clergi opinion rises to -5, and then I have no real idea how to restore it. Most handful remedy is to conquer and convert.

You can probably use a diplomat to secure influence over each of the classes. I just found that a little while ago, and put my leader to good use.

It will take a while, and you don't have control over which class gets boosted first, but over time you will probably get out of the -5 with the clergy.

Interesting, if deplomat appeaces one group of people by another, it may be useful.

I thought he appeaces them all at once, like +1 to every group over time. Like AOE appeace :)

Will check it out

It means all faithful Catholics can attack you as if you are pagan or muslim without consequences and that you can be the target of crusades

Can Orthodox state be a target for Catholic crusade?
Does Orthodox church have similar disband mechanism?

The same thing happened to me as Spain but had no time to deal with it, if you conquer Rome the Papacy disappears and every excommunicated kingdom is forgiven, the Pope also stops asking for Crusade money every 5 minutes, it honestly solved all my problems.

Genious remedy, no Pope - no problem 👹
If would a guy spamming "shun merchant, entice mercs" be silenced so easy 🤐 (kick all merchants from the court would help, but it is too radical)
