You can't. You shouldn't worry about defensive pacts, it's actually a good thing. At least it ensures you that the kingdom who created that defensive pact and the ones who join it are not planning to attack you.. Well, at least for a while. What's annoying is when your vassal join such pacts against you, which is absurd and doesn't make any sense.

I agree with your first bit. But there should be a game mechanic to counter them, instead of cheesing via let them capture your spy etc.

I was playing as France, and I couldn't conquer more territory because of this. I obviously got around it. But still annoying none the less.

Then decline non-agression pacts and trade agreements from the kingdom that you plan to attack. Keep provoking them by marching through their lands, offer gold to thri enemies, and declaring war on you would be just a matter of time. Though, you are right, we need some option to adress the kingdom who formed the defensive pact against you aswell as the ones supporting it and try to convince them to dissolve it or leave it. This would be a great addition for diplomats.

Send a spy to assassinate the diplomat that set up the pact, that will desolve it.
Or send a spy to the kingdom you want to attack and let him provoke them to declare war on you. This is even stronger when you have a defensive pact of your own against them.

But this is random. I have to wait for a prompt to show up to assassinate the Diplomat who is making it. Waiting on RNG sucks.

Ask another kingdom to attack them, and if they are at war, you can join their enemies as a supporter.

I just wait till the person I want to attack is at War. Join war. Try to gain territory before peace. Repeat.
