How join a crusade?

I have a question how i'm able to join a crusade, send my armies to fight when one is called

When the Pope asks your Marshal to join a crusade you don't get to send any armies. The Marshal selected drops his army where he's standing so you can recollect it and he marches off to the attack destination with a new randomized crusader force.

You can follow this crusader army around with another army to fight alongside it, but you can't technically join them in the crusade, as the marshal that was selected will be under AI control.

So, playing for a country with Christianity (Orthodoxy/Catholicism), if the Pope has not called one of your generals to the Crusade, there is no way to join the crusade without declaring war on the country that controls Jerusalem? It’s impossible to send the general yourself to somehow join??

Correct.

Besides this, crusades are catholic only and you can try to convince the pope to call a crusade for you if he is from and in your court or when he's serving as a spy for you.
