Knights/Advisors not aging
Title, my Knights-advisors are not getting older. Only my king is aging and dies, others are immortal.

Is it some kind of a bug or did i screw up by forgetting to turn on an option ?

Yes, only the king is aging and dies. This was the same set up in KOH1.

Devs said they did test Knights aging (it was mentioned as an option in the early DevDiaries), but in the end it didn't work out.

If they wanted to add aging to the minor characters, they would need to expand the family mechanics more. Which I don't think they will do since this game is more of remaster which isn't really a bad thing.

the princes/princesses age up, but never more than the active king. i think the queen ages up a bit as well
the important relatives (ex-princes, now brothers to the kings) i'm not sure about, i think they don't age unless they become kings again

If you play with an orthodox kingdom with autocephalous church, your head of church (namely your cleric) also ages and dies.

That would suck so much haha if you aren't playing religious you be struggling for books already if everyone constantly died you'd never have anyone higher than level 5

I get that but at the same time if you build traditions, characters and provinces in a certai nway you can be fine with books. It's just a way to play.

Maybe, but you need those books to set it all up in the first place and they'd be spent on those characters dying.

I think the biggest problem is that, if you think about it, you can't really offer it as an option, you effectively need two different ways of game balance for both modes. One balanced for characters aging and eventually dying would be too easy without it, one balanced like it is right now would be, I think, brutally difficult to just turn the aging on. And I'm not sure it would be as easy as cutting the cost by X%, no element floats on its own, you'd need to tweak incomes, skills, buildings...

Just letting everyone here know, that the devs actually implemented knights to age but deactivated the function since it was not fun. It was easy to mod back in and you can try it out. Here's my mod to activate aging knights: https://www.nexusmods.com/knightsofhonor2sovereign/mods/15

They stay alive until you exile them.

My understanding is that this is at least partially because knights dying wasn't fun, so they stay until dismissed.

Personally I am OK with this, but I wish there was another option besides exile, because it feels like betrayal.

I'd like a "prepare for retirement" option, where they become old and then disappear quickly.
