But yeah, needs a fix
As per upgrades, I'm on the fence, on one hand it saves the botheration of building all the upgrades again and allows devs to have more buildings with fewer building slots, plus the net cost is lower; on the other an upgrade that helps villages is a waste of money in a province with no villages.
Sadly, didn't work that way for me. The King's units simply get dumped outside the castle and have to be rehired :/
I've decided to simply not let my king be a marshal, and use a knight for the army I was using my king for. It's simply cheaper in the long run with this frankly dumb system.
