I was just watching and thinking the same thing. There wasn't a current date in KoH but I was hoping there would be in this
That's a shame. Hopefully they'll consider adding something like that down the road
Because it's an immersive feature?
edit: but if you're really set on it. the game will be mod friendly so someone might do it
Thank you very much for your time and response and for making this modern sequel to an iconic game. I also wish you a great and successful release and a long support period.
I have been looking forward to this game release for a very long time and I am very excited it is finally around the corner!
Regarding the historical sandbox take, I respectfully disagree.
Imho, the dates that mark our actions would not take from the sandbox feel whatsoever.. But would just mark our milestones and memorable moments. It would also add meaning to the aging of characters. This game has gone for a substantial depth and dates would only add to it.
For instance, Total War and CK are two game series that are often compared with this upcoming KOH2 game and both are sandbox historical and have dates and time pass that does not stand in the way of the sandbox nature of these games.
I totally believe that it would be a development, an upgrade to the KOH series rather than a hindrance and would not affect the sandbox of the game but rather add more substance and immersion.
I would genuinely love to see it added by the dev team or modding community.
I mean it is hard to hit those years in a game where you would have days, weeks and months passing.. It worked totally fine with series like CK and Total War or even M&B. But if you are set to be stuck in that thought, how not having dates help the situation?
? You are thinking to play that long into a campaign? There is end game and win conditions you know? In your case, knowing the time would be very helpful rather than playing in a universe where time pass is non existent.. At least it’ll give you an idea of how many years it took you to paint all that map! Unlikely you’ll hit the age of virtual reality devices as well if that helps :).
Brighten up fellow gamer, people are different.. While you find time pass showing your progress immersion breaking, others find it immersive..
Come on man are you serious with this? Have you never played a Crusader Kings or Total War game where a current date is shown? Obviously it wouldn't go to the year 3000 there would be a realistic end date.
Wild how some people want to play dumb about this.
