You did not read correctly. Game release was initially planned for 2020, then 2021 then "Coming Soon". The Hype has been lost in 2021 I guess and they realized it. Then, always IMO, they kept on going on living the moment without aiming that much on this title like saying "it will be ready when it will be, let's not put a deadline forcing ourselves since it won't have huge sales numbers".
delays can be blamed on the world situation though. can't record music with a pandemic in the wild.
Almost all other games didnt suffer the same fate despite World Situation. This has been bad managed on one side and on the other they have probably calculated that this game is not gonna make big numbers so they put less effort and that's what caused the delay.
Which is legitimate because every private company puts more resources and efforts on what can give them more profit leaving secondary projects in the background.
But the game is being worked on and progress is being made.
- they have demonstrated over last 3 years they are very slow making progress
- by their own admission they said a lot of things have been reworked and needed tweaking
- beta test only just started, I think it will take 3-4 weeks, they said if not enough engagement happens they will add more people
- once beta is completed they have to evaluate feedback, decide what to action then implement changes then test changes makes sure they didn't create more problems
- then they need a period for marketing and given the level of competition in December 2022 or early 2023 I even worry if Q1 2023 is realistic
I think Q1 23 is realistic. Since, as you said, Beta has only just started, I would be shocked for a Christmas release.
That said, devs from another THQN game told me that the publisher is giving them all the time they could want to finish their game, so chances are also high that when Knights of Honor 2 finally releases, it will do so in a good state.
More time, years and years at this point literally, doesn't guarantee quality product coming out the other side.
I mean nice straw man ash and well done showing us your more than capable of sloppy thinking in your white knighting.
Agreed. Just because it has been several years doesn't mean that it being polished to perfection. More likely is that the tech for graphics, CPU/GPU use, and just state of the art programming techniques will just continue to fall behind.
A game started five years ago will have portions of it five years old.
For AAA titles, I need to wait for a representative number of reviews before I purchase.
The only downside of focusing on negative reviews is that frequently I will talk myself OUT of a game purchase.
Better to wait for a week, then watch a couple of youtube let's play videos..I get a MUCH better feel for if this game would appeal to me enough to purchase it.
