Report a translation problem
Since the differences between versions can affect the time to complete some levels quite a bit, it should be made clear what version the runner played.
Of course there is an execution component but it isn't really worth making speedruns for.
Good point. My thought is that there’s the fastest solution, and also, the minimum number of key input, so those can be the merit of Baba Is You speedrun. In the fourth trial of mine which took 8 hours, I came up with more efficient solution, not just memorized things.
That is the literal version they are playing. Hempuli uses two letters to denote the versions of each update for Baba is You, you can see what they are in the updates page.
Though, I'm not quite certain where you get the version letters from.
Games where the challenge is based on execution are worth speedrunning. Baba is You's challenge is not based on execution.
Speedrun are meant to prove one's mastery of a certain game but speedrunning Baba is You doesn't truly prove that you master the game or even understand it's concept since you can just watch walkthroughs and memorize solutions.
