I'll add this to the common fix list.
Alternatively, try the betabranch, since even if you are missing components from the DirectX runtime, it should be able to run without.
EDIT: As expected, chwisty was missing the DirectX runtime. Switching to the beta branch fixed things :)
I have a Logitech Z cinema system, which works fine with all other programs which have sound.
My current workaround is to play sound over my TV, which adds to the lofi experience, but is still suboptimal.
