Common fixes for technical issues
This is a small collection of technical issues (game not starting up, etc.) and some ways to fix them. It is still incomplete, but we will expand it when we find any issues and their workarounds.

Game cannot start

GPU drivers
Make sure you have the latest GPU drivers installed for your system.
This is the #1 cause of crashes on startup.

Disable NVIDIA Ansel
Some people have reported that disabling NVIDIA Ansel fixes this issue for them.
Follow the directions here to disable Ansel: http://mp2.dk/ss/W7FGr9aT.png

Install DirectX runtime
Some people seem to have broken DirectX 9.0c installations.
Therefore, try installing the DirectX runtime from here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Reinstall NVIDIA drivers
One user had a problem with his Direct3D9 driver, caused by a corrupted NVIDIA driver installation. In this case, no Direct3D9 games would work.
By completely uninstalling all NVIDIA graphics drivers and installing the newest NVIDIA drivers, the issue was fixed.

Troubleshooting
If none of the suggested fixes work, please do the following and report the results:

Press Win+R, type "eventvwr.msc", and press Enter. Go to Windows Logs, Application, and check for any items with the error icon.

No sound

Install DirectX runtime
This might be because your DirectX installation is broken.
On Windows, XAudio2 is required for sound.
Therefore, try installing the DirectX runtime from here:

Game stutters while in-game

Disable Steam overlay
Try disabling Steam overlay.
Go to the Properties page of the game, and disable it like so: http://mp2.dk/ss/W4uEOw7G.png

If that does not help, you can also try disabling the overlay globally, by going
Steam - Settings - Ingame, and disabling the overlay like so:

Launch outside Steam
One user had an issue where running the game inside Steam would make the game stutter, while running the game outside Steam was fine.

To do this, do the following:
- In Steam, go to Baba Is You - Properties - Browse local files.
- Close Steam.
- Open "Baba Is You.exe" in the folder you just opened.
