Trading Cards/Badges?
I'd really love for them to be a thing. I'd especially love if the crab was an emote. Yep.

I technically implemented them even before release, but looking at them now I feel slightly embarrassed at how low-effort the Steam background artpieces look. I don't really have the time right now but if I can find a moment to create some nicer-looking assets, I'll add the cards/badges.

looking forward to support the game further with buying emoticons when you can publish them :B1:

Anything is fine as long as it has baba in it

I'm sure people will appreciate them even if they seem low-effort to you! I want to support the game more

I heard that Steam recently moved into a new point-based system - are trading cards still useful for people?

points are useful to buy the cosmetic items (backgrounds or emotes) with already spent money instead of having to rely on other users selling said items. Trading cards are useful for badges (and getting some of the cosmetics items).

Yeah. You can't get the badge without the trading cards [and you can't get the trading card items from the point shop].

[Oh, also you can display the trading cards on your inventory showcase on your profile.]

The only thing you can get from the point shop without owning the game is the chat stickers which are an optional thing developers can add to the Steam store for promoting their games.
( A Baba chat sticker would be way cuter than any other chat stickers currently available, in my opinion. I am not sure what Steam gives the developer for adding this, though. )

In some cases, having emoticons & backgrounds for your game might encourage people who prefer the point shop to just buy your game instead of the trading cards.
( I must admit, I've done this a few times, myself, with games already, during the last sale. )

There's a little bit more that goes into the specifics of the user interactions but that should be main idea of the core elements involved.

Yeah, badge would be cool, so would having backgrounds and little "emojis". :minit::minit_eyepatch::minit_hater::minit_mary:
