Server MOTD will not load

Hey Devs,

What's up with the server MOTD.cfg file not loading? Running on Linux server, file name is correct (MOTD.cfg), file permissions are correct, or at least, what they are set to from the steam depot (755), and ownership is correct (same owner as server process). My ServerLogo.png loads fine and the ServerMessages.cfg seems to be working fine as well. I have even tried just plain text in the file, nothing.

Looking through the steam depot, it looks like the MOTD.cfg was last changed around 6 months ago... not sure that a change to that file would really affect anything as it is mostly just text, but maybe there was another change related to MOTD at the same time. My only other thought that maybe it is checking file permissions and 755 is too permissive so it is silently dropping the file? I say silently because there are absolutely no logs regarding the MOTD any where. This would kind of make sense, since other servers (that have been around longer than mine) are loading MOTD's just fine. I wouldn't suspect that steamcmd update would overwrite server configuration files, so if there was a breaking change introduced they would likely be ok.

I am out of ideas. I am going to try and set the permissions lower (going to try 644) to see if that does it but I doubt it. What am I missing here?

As I assumed, setting permissions of that file to 644 had no effect. I have submitted a ticket for this and will update this thread with any findings.
