Hi, Jeff. Your guide was one of the very first things that I tried out, but nothing nonetheless.
Yeah, I also just took the moment to uninstall all the audio deices, select one again the mic and headset only. Cleared the cache of the game too.
My headset is an RIG HD800. The microphone's cable that came with it sadly got damanged, so I changed to this EGM-04 ELEGIANT[www.elegiants.com].
Works great on anything else, just not on PS.
I'm just wondering if the headset is overriding the stand alone mic.
Yeah, pretty much. I am using the headset as the speaker and the stand alone mic as such. The rest of the devices, even the headset mic, are disabled. So, it shouldn't be using the headset mic, but who knows... I am gonna try and talk through my headset mic and see if anyone can hear me, that would be weird.
Alright, so I tried what I said above, but nothing so far.
Just to troubleshoot, unplug your headset completely. Setup your audio to come through desktop speakers (assuming you have some). Keep your EGM-04 as default input device and get into a game and ask squad mates for a mic check.
Alright, I tried such as much as possible, since now my game is crashing after getting into the match, when the map loaded. Already tested my PC with other games that consume almost all the resources and no crash... So, I take this is now a Post Scriptum problem itself. Also, I have deleted the cache folder manually and cleaned the cache with the in-game option too, but nothing... Also checked the in-game files. The game out of the blue started doing this.
Anyhow, to stick to the mic issue, nothing so far. I even went as far to disable the in-built audio device of my PC. Windows also shows me that the last time that PS used the mic, was almost a month ago, yet still did not work back then.
I do not like reaching to this, but I am going to format my PC and see how it goes. It's been a while, anyway.
Alright, found the solution.
So, I checked my microphone page and realized that it is advertised for 24 bit of bitrate. Windows always set it to 16bit. When I changed it to 24bit, since the option was offered by windows, windows told me for some reason that there was an application using the mic. I clicked to change it anyway and...that was it!
Unsure why this did not work at first, but glad that it is over.
Cause my PC set my webcam as my default mic...
