Squad 44

Squad 44

I would like to play, but there are no servers!
I encourage the work which was put into Post Scriptum/Squad44 lately! But i think it's wasted if there are no servers to play on or only servers with huge queue time.

Any ideas how this can be solved?

PS: I think a lot of potential players are discouraged when the start the game and see that there are only a handfull of servers. Additionally most of the servers are full and i even get to into the queue. Just getting the "Disconnected" message. I want to play, but it seems it is really a lot of effort for "casusal" players like me to get into a game.

With kind regards,
clayt0n

Adding to that:
Got on a french server. There where some guys accepting me speaking english. Local chat stopped working after respawn. Worked fine before. Checked the binds, rebinded, tried the mouse button, tried the keyboard button. Nothing worked. Decided to leave, because local chat is pretty important.

Edit: It seems, that rebinding to the default keyboard key "V" seemed to work the second time. Binding it to a mouse key still doesn't work. Or only works before the first respawn. I remember this as an old bug in Squad. So the following statement still stands after the Edit :)

It seems that the codebase of Squad'44 is way behind the more polished Squad. Does someone know if or when they will be joined (mostly bugfixes of core elementes like Voice not worlking)?

Thanks again,

There are dozens of servers. Sometimes you need to tweak Steam's server browser settings to get all the servers to show - not a Squad 44 issue. Go to Steam pull down menu -> Settings -> In Game -> Set server browser ping / minute to 500. Relaunch game. Refresh the server browser a couple of times if you don't see anything the first time. You can also try setting the ping rate to 400 or 300.

Since they've implemented 100 players there have been less "full" servers but the queues haven't been as bad. *Tip* a new feature lets you join on a sever while still being in queue for another server. To do this, first join a server, for example Arnhem Range, the hit escape and go back to the main menu and select Play Online again, and then join the second server. Then escape again to go back to the 1st server where you can either play or experiment with weapons and tanks.

With regards to your local chat not working, does the squad chat work? And do people hear you? When you press local chat key does it show that you're speaking on the screen (lower left corner)? If not then you probably have keybind issue.

I see over 12 servers, but most are empty. Yesterday (Friday 10pm CEST) there where four full servers with a queue line of at least +10. Joining a server with a queue line >10 seemed to immediately disconnect me from the joining process.I think that i was just frustrated because i wanted to play but only had the choice playing in empty servers or waiting and refreshing the server list untill a server had a queue line low enough, so the queueing mechanics work.

The local chat is bound to a mouse button and the key "V". They work for one respawn, after that it didn't work and no local chat icon was shown. Other players couldn't hear me. Squad chat always worked fine. A fix for me was rebinding the local chat again to the same mouse button and the same "V" key. But only the "V" key worked. I remember this bug from squad long years ago :)
It just depends on the time of the day. Primetime is during CET evening time. Try to hop on then :)

I just started playing a week ago and saw what you saw, with the 4-5 servers with large queues. I was initially afraid to join the long queues and instead did what you did; but the last few days I have been just been getting in the queue and have been in the game within 10-15 minutes tops. All this complaining about the servers seems waaaay over the top to me.

They need bots; makes games so much better (see Tannenberg, Verdun, Isonzo, etc.)

Fewer than 10 out of dozens of servers have even one person.

When Project reality was at its heigts 10 years ago, there was max 2 servers on list and both had queues of 15+ people. Just do something in meantime, no need to sit front of computer checking screen every second
