It's never had official servers. The game was started by a small independent development team. They didn't have resources to pay for and police a bunch of official servers. Most servers are run by clans that do their own policing, some well, some not so well.
All valid points but I don't see any of that as being an excuse to forgo official servers. As someone who just picked up this game, it shouldn't be beholden on me to waste time figuring who the good/bad admins are. And it's not it like it costs an arm and a leg. It's just a choice they are making and its not a good one for the long term viability.
I never did get in the server I tried and quit in frustration after 30 minutes.
So now I'm like should I just refund now? The only reason I haven't is because Squad takeover and I believe in that group of devs.
Don't point that out, it destroys his argument !
Eat my shorts Clint!
It's the exact same as trying to join a decent server in Squad. Choose a server and sit in the queue until a match ends at which point you will always get in because that is when people leave. The real Gs know to use the battlemetrics server list to find out what server has had the current round running the longest by looking at the realtime player count chart.
And official servers wouldn't fix this, either. It's just the nature of a small playerbase shooter where people play full rounds instead of dropping out midway through.
Exactly, the methodology is the same. Just find a server with agreeable admins/game flow and queue as you would in Squad. Not sure how official servers with no moderation and inevitable griefing/toxicity would be a good thing.
You can now join one server while you wait in queue for another server, this is a new feature that not many people know about.
Just join a server that is seeding, then join the queue for the other server, play have fun, help seed a server then when your spot in the queue is ready you will be connected to that server, if everyone did this we would have shorter queues and more full servers.
Also no we don't need official servers.
Now that's some useful info, thank you!
Let me see your papers.
