The free weekend was announced in their recent news post, it was also announced last month in their discord server.

Too bad. Hesitant to drop $$$ on this with all the rumors circulating. I like squad & was eager to see if this really is a buggy mess or ppl just giving it a bad rap 'for purchasing.

But clearly someone in management/marketing F'ed up & this free weekend isn't happening.

If you watch video on store page there is some kid or young adult screaming lets go lets go etc and more young adults yelling crap in mic in whole video very off putting anyway.

Yeah. THought I was crazy, then maybe just early. Looked again today, checked the link and it's supposed to last until the 9th. Had to check here and see if I'm bugged.

Guess the devs don't care or forgot.

Overall the whole dev team got axed, if you look at the post scriptum discord the entire dev team is not even actually devs, they're all still there because there's nobody else to govern the discord.
I thought I could try the game out during the free weekend to see if there's enough content to get my money's worth out of, but I guess there's nobody to even launch the free weekend in the first place.

That's pretty dead. Also the fact the devs forgot to put the free weekend up, kinda shows devs don't care/have other things better to do.

I terms of players, the game is no where near "dead". In terms of official development, yeah it's pretty dead for the moment. We may see a new team hired but it's likely we'll have one more official patch and then life support by modding teams.

I don't have my own game on steam, but I'd assume there is a simple form to fill out for a game that can be set ahead of time, when the devs were still in the office, that probably takes 2 minutes to fill out.

I don't have my own game on steam, but I'd assume there is a simple form to fill out for a game that can be set ahead of time, when the devs were still in the office, that probably takes 2 minutes to fill out.

Thats not how it works no. We had to aprove it with OWI and then with steam. But now nobody works at PS anymore so nobody bothers with the free weekend. no idea if the head of company still wants todo it but i wouldnt count on it

Steam does not offer "simple forms" and the typical resources in charge of this were let go. We're lucky that the CEO was able to deploy today's patch.
