Squad 44
Vehicle and Tank Things
One of the things I enjoy from squad is the gear holding ability. This would make pushing with infantry or tanks better. Maneuvering in cities would also be better since we'd be able to stay in a lower gear.

The Sherman came with a gyroscope stabilizer, would this be possible to do? Understanding this only worked for low speeds, but would be a nice feature for Sherman. Not sure if the Firefly came with it.

As a third more minor thing... turret controls, maybe at joystick support. WASD is fine but I have a joystick sitting right here and it would be pretty cool to use it to operate the turret.

gear holding would be a great quality of life change. shermans could be able to use their stabilizer at slow speed (dunno if they actually have it ingame).
gyro would be a cool inclusion, but the way tank warfare is handled at the moment it would give the allied side an even bigger advantage then they have already. Tank on tank fights are still based, more or less, on a hp pool for both vehicles, more so then armour pen, or shell type.
Yes, you can ammo rack tanks, and yes you can knock out crew, but by and large most fights devolve into who got the first shot, and who can do more damage in a straight up slug fest.. The gyro would give the shermans an unfair advantage in this type of situation. When the game adds in a more in depth armour scenario, then for sure I would be on board. Until then though it would make running the axis tanks a nightmare.
The other side, if the game is going for realism, is that the gyro was not widely known about, even within tank crews. The allied high command kept it a secret, so well in fact, that their own guys had no idea it existed. So, the tanks could have it now, it's just that the "realism" aspect keeps them in the dark. :P
But, for the record, both gear holding and gyro would be really cool to see in the game.
All the shermans we have in-game atm are from British units. The British didn't like and so did not use the stabiliser on the Sherman, pretty sure their sherman's didn't even actually have them installed.

Also no, it wasn't a secret from the tank crews as that'd be pointless. It just wasn't well liked, even by American crews who tended to keep it turned off.

It also wasn't meant for firing on the move, it's use was to pretty much keep the gun in the general location you were aiming before moving, it wouldn't at all be effective while on the move.
+100 for the gears idea. I can't tell you how many times I was moving up with the tanks only to be left behind and without cover. It still requires coordination but the gears will help the tank drivers judge the speed they should be going.

Yes I understand that it was only for elevation and wasn't the greatest stabilizer. But even able to keep the gun in the general location could be clutch at times.

Though something needs to be changed about armor so it is not based on health pools and how pen works.

When the large hatch Shermans were made, they were distributed with an easier to use stabaliser, this was used in 75mm tanks in British service.
The early ones were complicated and crews wern't trained in thier use or maintenance.

(something even US units struggled with early on)
All tanks need polish in general.
Better view ports first and foremost, as only 2 or 3 have their cupolas properly modeled.
Plus additional view ports that aren't forward-facing or part of a cupola don't exist as far as the game is concerned.
tanks need mainly driving imrpovment and speed regulations... it's quite ridiculous that Churhcil is almost as fast as Panther or scout car xD
But the driving itself is sooooooo screwed...
Imao the best thing would be just copying tanks from Red Orchestra 2 xD
