Yes, you can ammo rack tanks, and yes you can knock out crew, but by and large most fights devolve into who got the first shot, and who can do more damage in a straight up slug fest.. The gyro would give the shermans an unfair advantage in this type of situation. When the game adds in a more in depth armour scenario, then for sure I would be on board. Until then though it would make running the axis tanks a nightmare.
The other side, if the game is going for realism, is that the gyro was not widely known about, even within tank crews. The allied high command kept it a secret, so well in fact, that their own guys had no idea it existed. So, the tanks could have it now, it's just that the "realism" aspect keeps them in the dark. :P
But, for the record, both gear holding and gyro would be really cool to see in the game.
Also no, it wasn't a secret from the tank crews as that'd be pointless. It just wasn't well liked, even by American crews who tended to keep it turned off.
It also wasn't meant for firing on the move, it's use was to pretty much keep the gun in the general location you were aiming before moving, it wouldn't at all be effective while on the move.
Yes I understand that it was only for elevation and wasn't the greatest stabilizer. But even able to keep the gun in the general location could be clutch at times.
Though something needs to be changed about armor so it is not based on health pools and how pen works.
The early ones were complicated and crews wern't trained in thier use or maintenance.
(something even US units struggled with early on)
Better view ports first and foremost, as only 2 or 3 have their cupolas properly modeled.
Plus additional view ports that aren't forward-facing or part of a cupola don't exist as far as the game is concerned.
But the driving itself is sooooooo screwed...
Imao the best thing would be just copying tanks from Red Orchestra 2 xD
Gear Sysem is tested internally they said and whould like to have it.
