I'd sure love to see the standard infantry uniforms become available for regular infantry sections.
As chapter 1 “The Bloody Seventh” has now concluded with the release of the Grave map there are no published plans to add any further content to chapter 1. They are working on the next two chapters now.
We are hopeful someone will mod the British infantry of XXX corp once the SDK is released.
Bummer on the lack of standard British/CW infantry uniforms. Perhaps they'll add them to Chapter II, since the Brits were in the BoF. Or, like you say, failing that, hopefully some good modders will add them once the SDK is out.
Periscope are committed long term to Post Scriptum so you never know, they may one day revisit chapter 1 and add some more content for us like XXX Crop, Son and Nijmegen bridges etc or we may be able to reuse assets from future chapters what ever they may be. They mentioned discussing ideas for chapters 4 and 5 a long time ago but didnt share what those ideas were specifically.
Wow, the Chapter II maps are gorgeous! Amazing work with so much detail and interesting features (loved the bit with FNikolai leading his squad up the elevator for the first time).
Looks like I picked an excellent time to hop on board.
Yes, due to poor pay and bad leadership, some French units had low morale. But many had high morale and fought very bravely. When the leadership put them in the right place, they bloodied the Germans badly.
Another thing about the BoF...luck played a very important part. The original German plan was basically the WWI plan sped up. A plane crash put the plans into Allied hands and the opened the door for AH to receive and accept the far bolder, riskier plan that came to be.
The old plan would have likely allowed the French and British, despite their problems, time adapt and could have been WWI all over again. The new plan, in a twist of fate, put the Germans in exactly the right place. That, coupled with the huge deficiency in French leadership and comms sealed France's fate. Once the Allies realized the situation, there was simply no time to adapt.
I think it's time the WWII French grunt gets the respect he rightly deserves. Same could be said for the Italians and Axis minors. They tend to get blamed as a group for losses that were due to reasons other than the actions of the line soldiers. When they had adequate leadership, equipment and supply, they did a lot better than the myths lead people to believe.
