How do you get on the same side with a friend?

I tried showing this game for the first time to a friend. We had a devil of a time trying to get on the same side. Is their a way for small groups (say at least one squad in size) to have a friends TAB for steam friends that allows them to enter as a squad?

It would also be good to somehow allow a squad to prioritise a vehicle. We were in an Armour Car as hull gunner and driver but the gunner was from another armoured squad. We had no coms with him and he would not respond. We had a side shot on a stug but no way of telling the gunner. We died obviously in a flurry of frustration.

There are three tabs at the top when you join a server. One of them will allow you to switch teams. You won't be able to switch unless the team you're switching to is equal or lesser in numbers.

That is exactly my problem. RO2 had a tab that allowed joining a friends server.. I wanted to ask if it could be extended to ensuring that you could wait for a server to reserve you and your grouped friends waiting in the lobby to join a squad together. Rather than stuffing around for 20 minutes while slots become available. Because servers usually work by allocating 1 person who just joined to one side and the next to the other. This presents a problem for me when a new person joins within seconds of me that I want to play with.

There is no 'party join' currently. I would like to see this feature too, but it will play havoc with team balance.

You can use local chat, instead of team chat, when talking to players from another squad. As long as they are in close proximity, within 15-20 metres, they will hear you.

Thats a no sale. If I cant join easily in a squad with my friends/brother im not interested. We have over 1000 hrs in H&G and that game may not be perfect but its easy as hell to squad up. We make a squad then join together...simple. Hopefully they will fix it in the future. We will probably buy it if they do. Its wierd that its based on working together then forces you to work with strangers unless you jump through hoops for a while. The game looks fun so i'll keep checking back.

The other related thing we just had huge problems with was that when we finally got into a game and in the second Armoured section... we had to race for tanks that showed up. Then what would happen is that we would end up with one friend that could not enter out of the three of us because their is only one STUG. I have no real problem with this. But it would be nice to have a reserved system to lock your vehicle like the squad members in an infantry section can lock their weapons. Because the RACE for the only STUG which could fit all three of my friends usually resulted in at least one friend being left behind or trying to ride on the roof.

The fix would be to be able to spawn directly into vehicle positions from the loadout menu instead of rushing for a tank.
