the trailer alone has so many lines that could easly be applied to any PS round. My parents had it on VHS back in the day...love that stinking movie

Also, in the gaming sphere. Close combat a bridge too far is still one of the best games i’ve ever played. Still works great and is available on gog for very cheap.
I freaking love that game! I wish they would do a difinitive edition like they did to Age of Empires. I think it would get a huge following.

Suggest reading book Antony Beevor Arnhem. Books give so much more real and detailed info that any movie cant compete. Same with his Stalingrad, Ardennes and D-day. Max Hastings is equally good

Arnhem, Martin Middlebrook is probably the most detailed book on the subject i've read.
With, special mention to local dutch historian R.G. Paulussen, 'Lost at Nijmegen'

Fantastic film 😊 on the same level as the longest day and Tora Tora Tora.
Of course Patton, Stalingrad, the battle of Britain, midway (from the 70's)bthe iron cross....... are the list too 😉
We won't have legendary films like these anymore....

Iron Cross so totally underrated, one of few eastern front films. Stalingrad is great too.

Hope noone comes and recommends Pearl Harbor or new Midway though...

I'm glad you like my list 😊.
I'm talking about the Joseph vilsmaier film from 1993 not enemy at the gates, it was..... Yep I've seen worse.
Privat Ryan was pretty good too but it wasn't "old" enough so i didn't mentioned it, same for flags of our fathers and letters from iwo jima.
Eternal zero is a good film too but recent and it's in the pacific so haven't mentioned ut neither 😊.

Oh..... Of course..... Das Boot.... How could i forget this one.... I know it's far away from a bridge to far but I have the feeling these classics are nearly forgotten, people just talk about films like fury (i don't think it was that bad) ...... Sight...... Arg...

Das boot especially miniseries version is my all time number 1. I thought that Private ryan was awesome first time i saw it and Thin red line is just ok but after seen both over 5 times now i rank Thin Red line much better than Ryan.

Great older films that havent been mentioned i love Longest day, Midway, Twelve o'clock high

1970s war movies are terrible in my opinion. Way too much dialogue and planning and the action seems corny.

I prefer war movies from the 1940s through 1960s. Not too much gore but very well done.

My most favorite and highly recommend people to watch them are:

To Hell and Back.
Audie Murphy plays himself ffs. Can't get much cooler than that.

The Story of GI Joe
This move is effing amazing. It follows Ernie Pyle from North Africa to Italy. The action scenes are very well done. You could tell that veterans were advising on set because it is very realistic.

Battle of the Bulge.
Yeah this one is a little corny and not very accurate but I grew up watching it and I loved it. This is what I watch during Christmas lol

Sands of Iwo Jima.
Need I say more? Pretty sure everyone has seen this one.

Those are very good movies, watched them both. Sadly many non hollywood studios dont have their budget even though they clearly have talent. But books is where you will learn from WW2 lot more, i would say 90% of atleast hollywood movies have things twisted and unnecessary drama and flag hailing occurs little bit too much. Got about 70-80 WW2 books on my shelf, some 20 still unread.

I would recommend to watch TIK channel on youtube. He made over an hour movie about whole operation Market Garden - day by day what was happening exactly.

I was surprised how stupid some decisions were made during this operation. And in games we see a lot of shooting, but in reality war is chaos and a lot bureaucracy which could lead to worst outcome.
