Though I don't think anyone will blame you really, I've too played as commander, sent something to a marker or placed a marker where I'm going to send something and a team or a few random people just go there, even though I told all SLs and the team in the teamchat.
Depends on the server. But they expire usually after 24 hours on most servers after a restart.
Server admin can reduce the time but so far it's not worked on our server. Its 2 or 3 games which is most of an evening.
Wrong server admins can unban these people, it just won't take effect until server restart, they can also control if they want the auto teamkill ban on or off. We even increased the amounts of teamkills required by the commander to like 16. But there has to be a limit.
Nothing out of the ordinary there.
Thanks Snazzy we are aware it can be turned off but it needs to cover the server when Admin isnt around so we need it on.
Restarting the server isn't a practical solution given the low player numbers and difficulty seeding we cannot restart a server mid game or even in between maps just to forgive one player for Arty/Mortar TK's.
I wasnt aware the TK limit was increased to 16 for commanders - that may help, when did that happen? If it was before last Friday then it hasn't helped much as may players still get banned through no fault of their own.
We did this ages ago. Actually I'm wrong it was 14 according to the team for the Commander. So Double the standard 7 for regular players.

If we could change it to Kick instead of a ban and/or make it Admin only to issue bans? that or allow admin to just forgive bans without having to restart the server that would be perfect.
As a quick fix Right now I think increasing TK limit for PL needs to go up to 20. With a lot of new players on and even the experienced ones getting caught out by increased Arty Splash radius we are seeing a lot of banned commanders asking to be forgiven.
In that case they might as well turn off auto teamkill ban. We won't make it a kick, if you accidentally teamkill 14 people you just need to watch your fire or just not fire with friendlies around. It's already been doubled what it was before, a forgive system, maybe. I won't say yes or no.
Artillery can be tricky, always needs to be spaced a little behind the target if it's too close to your allies.
But anyway, that's really unfortunate, and even unlucky, I wouldn't even know how to contact them myself (server admins) I'd probably wait for the ban to go off but with so little servers what a pain.
All servers have an admin team (at least they should have). If you play on any of the regularly seeded servers they do. You can google them or ask in game to find out how to contact the admin. many use Discord or TS. you can contact them on their websites too. Its useful for asking for help with Team killers or Griefers or anyone who break rules like politics, verbal/written abuse etc.
Well 7 is fine for players but 14 is too low for the commander. A kick is warning enough and a Ban would be fine IF it could be forgiven without restarting the server. Right now in effect you cannot forgive a Server issued Ban. This has on 4 occasions ruined my night playing PS> I played something else as I couldnt play with my friends. Its happened to many others too. i find the current system is not fit for purpose now Arty is increased in effect and public players even experienced players can end up in the arty before it lands. a minute is long time in game and despite the best intentions and communication to the team these bans keep happening.
At the this stage it is safer not to play PL until PG amend the Ban/forgive system.
It doesnt help that the PL has to sit back in a Fob tent to be useful but they end up blind and over reliant on the SL's. The jeep gets them killed way too fast, its easy to spot and destroy. They cannot spawn in on Rallies forcing them further away from the battle. They have no medic to pick them up making them reliant on nearby by SL's again as they cannot call for one in section chat. Most SL are overworked and cannot invest enough time marking the map to give the team the info needed for arty/air support. These are public servers after all.
Not many complain about it because few players play the PL role and now there is a good chance you will get banned, especially if you're new or learning it will put players off even more.
I have yet to hear of anyone complaining about a deliberately team killing PL. Team killing is punishment enough for an honest player trying to help their team and win the match. Banning them with no way to forgive leaves them unable to play on the same server as their friends for the rest of the evening. Its just Bad. Please change it.
EDIT: What about QOL changes to make it easier for players to see the radius of effect of their Arty? When changing the spread its not easy or intuitive to see what area you are going to hit and as maps differ in scale between the smaller US maps and larger Brit maps it can be confusing.
Also the recent bug where The markers placed by SL/PL are not put in the right place could be making the issue worse. I dont know if Arty/planes are missing targets because of the map marking issue in the same way? I think the map marking issue mainly affects those on 21:9 monitors or 1080p res.

You clearly never PL mate. Of course PL's dont send support if there is a risk players will go into it. But players do suprise you
