Driver Booster 5 for Steam

Driver Booster 5 for Steam

Doesn't this program "destroy" PC's?
By installing outdated/incorrect drivers? the idea behind this is really neat, especially after fresh installs or just for updating and skip searching for the right drivers. But can it properly detect the right drivers and check for compatibility?

I was unfortunately silly enough to try it out once (a previous version, 3 or 4 i think), and ended up with Bluescreens and slowdowns due to the wrong drivers.. even after following the proper steps. I wonder if this version is working, or just like previous ones.

Is someone brave enough to put everything at risk for this?

you do need knowledge on what drivers you should leave manufacturer, and you should remember, ALWAYS INSTALL DRIVERS 1 BY 1, AND REBOOT AFTER EACH ONE, IF THERE'S AN ERROR, ROLLBACK. NEVER INSTALL MORE THAN ONE DRIVER AT ONCE... something this software will do, if you don't manually install them in the ui.

It's not fine. This program screwed my computer up something bad. After using it just for giggles it claimed I had a bunch of outdate chipset drivers and what not. So I went throught the process.....after restart I was getting error about failing to load windows and to run repair. Repair didn't work. After spending hours trying to solve the problem I ended up having to format and reinstall windows.

I know several others who have had nothing but problems since using it. Your PC drivers can all be found from the manufacturer or if it's a custom build pc then you should know what to do.
Not true. I have been using DriverBooster for many years, it has no problems at all. Never encountered or heard of such problems, and I know the first 10 other people who use it.

Just cause it didn't happen to you doesn't make it not true. It did infact screw my computer up as well as several friends of mine too and lots of others. Just use it with caution I guess you can say then.

not all drivers are found by manufacture website, some are out of date or obosleted. i have an old sub woofer attachted to this pc . it works fine on Audio, but the drivers are the older versions for Vista.

so go back to your ps4 or xbox and stop with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!

driver booster is ♥♥♥♥, it bricked my system, its very shady and rarely installs proper drivers, and the sources for the drivers are sketch and not official sources, alot of the drivers this installs are fake and or for the wrong product, which is why it bricks your system, your better off getting the proper drivers from your computer manufacturer, or the company that makes your motherboard, gpu.... its a very bad idea to use any of the driver install programs, they are shady and quite often fake, plus they are quite often full of malware, and spyware, plus they can possibly destroy your machine

Avoid this at all costs. This motherf#@kin s#@t messed up my PC so badly, I had to reinstall Windows. After installing the drivers it couldn't boot in windows, not even in safe mode. It gave me the blue screen of death with the error code "Critical Process Died". Nothing worked. I tried restore points, resetting, reverting to previous versions, sfc and chkdisk, I even tried to put the ssd into another pc and manually deleting drivers with no success. Delete this garbage off og steam.

Currently reinstalling windows, yay... But honestly stay away from this program, its a bit of a hassle but installing drivers by your own hands is way safer and more reliable than this

I had no problems with it, it solves a lot of legacy driver issues for older pc's where you cant easily find the webpage from the manufacturer. It does take a system restore snapshot before you are allowed to install any drivers - if the pc wont boot hold F8 (win 10) to boot into repair mode - problem solved... Of course you hear the horror stories but I never heard about anyone suing them... If you want to read some proper reviews and maybe find an alternativre product I would recommend going to alternativeto*net - replace the * with an . of course

I also didnt had problems with it...until the day it literally froze my laptop and i had to reinstall everything from scratch, thanks to this piece of garbage that bricked my system altogether.

it was on a win 8.1 something netbook (been long time ago)

Thats not to say that system restore didnt worked, i just dont find it normal that a driver utility program can ♥♥♥♥ up your system so much to the point of having to reinstall from scratch. YMV obviously but this should never occur in any instance, not from a software that wants to pretend to be an easy/hassle-free experience

and all that over using the utility as intended, not doing some stupid tweaking or advanced settings wizardry.

Ever since then (and even further), Im avoiding any Iobit software as the plague, because you may as well lit your money on fire than giving them to crooks of their nature, selling snake-oil garbageware

I do think labeling the software as snakeoil garbageware is counterproductive for taking your comment seriously when it clearly works as advertised for most people - and if you where on 8.1 and it was a long time ago your experience is not for the software version of today - the version you used might as well have been broken like your experience says of course - but it seems as you are saying that system restore worked for you so you did not have to install from scratch?

When installing drivers it will always be a risk for a driver conflict between the vast amount of hardware that exist out there - its just the way it is and always will be - so if you dont have any issues with your pc - just leave it as is except maybe grapichs drivers and other vital hardware drivers.

I use this software mostly when I want to save time on finding drivers for a freshly installed windows 10 - building new pc for friends etc - and in my experience it works as advertised - if you still not sure about driver booster, check out alternativeto*net for both paid, free and open source software that does the same job
