I prefer to use the Eye of Ender Pickaxe for idling, which generates some blocks from most biomes from its power. It usually isn't enough to advance through biomes by itself, though.
When I hit the Sun, I use the Tritium and Star Core pickaxes to get through it faster.
For crafting, the Frank-Pie Axe is decent when dealing with long craft times.
edit: found another one i like, the clover wand gives passive +300 luck when equipped and also creates a large explosion upon using the ability that gives tons of blocks (and also slows down time for a bit)
The Bonefish pickaxe makes the click-and-hold speed go about as fast as an autoclicker.
