Why did y'all remake the models?
This has been something I was curious about ever since I saw how the animatronics such as Springtrap have had overhauls when it came to models. This made no sense, seeing as Scott had to make models for the animatronics throughout FNAF 1 - UCN, and Scott could have reused those. Some models had minor changes, others... they had major changes, and of course, we were introduced to new content such as Malhare. (Though I don't completely agree with this uh, thing.) Here we come to the final question; Why didn't Scott reuse the old models and went through the trouble of remaking around approximately thirty animatronics? The only reason I could think of Scott doing this is that he somehow lost the files of the models for the animatronics.

overall, the models were edited to greatly reduce polycount, and also allow for better rigging (freddy's fingers on the original model were entirely static, in the vr version they're able to be posed properly). materials were edited to be more "realistic" and fit in more with the realistic props the game used.

scott didn't lose the animatronics or anything, steel wool just slightly edited them to work better for their purposes.

And here I was thinking I was the only one who noticed Springtrap was different.

Since they are in vr now, they would have to be 3D models, instead of being a series of 2D images.

Well thing is, Scott had 3D models of them. Clickteam just converts them to 2D images. Think about how excessively long that would take. Designing every one of those images.

Could be that they had to make new models who are easier to render, since this is a vr game.

I guess that makes sense.
