How to Beat FNAF 1 Night 5
After several hours of gameplay and research, I have developed a strategy that reduces the amount of luck needed to beat Night 5.

1. Unless Chica comes to your right door early (which is uncommon), you do not have to do anything until 1 AM.
2. At 1 AM, Foxy will be about to charge. Make sure to close your door, and hope the doors don't open by themselves (I will note that I was able to keep Foxy out while the doors were opening and closing by pressing the door button at the right time, but you have to be pretty lucky that you press the door button at the instant your door goes up).
3. At 2 AM, Freddy should be at or near room 4B, which is the end of the hallway. Freddy moves position around every sixteen to eighteen seconds, so count out around twelve and then close your door. If Chica is at your door during this time, be sure to close the door and keep counting so you may open it for a few extra seconds once she leaves.
4. After Freddy laughs while at 4B, he will appear to have vanished from the room. DO NOT BE FOOLED. Freddy is still at 4B. This means that, if he laughs while your right door is open, you are dead. However, this also means that until he laughs you are safe to keep your right door open as long as Chica doesn't come to your door. In other words, KEEP YOUR RIGHT DOOR OPEN WHEN YOU CAN. Keeping your right door closed gives you a small chance of success according to some, but to have the highest chance of success you must keep counting out Freddy's laughs, opening your door for up to twelve seconds after the laughter begins. Remember to shine your light before opening your right door, however. Chica may have sauntered up to your door without you realizing it.
5. Always keep Foxy in mind. He will hit your doors at 1 AM, 3 AM, and the end of 4 AM. If you watch Pirate Cove, Foxy will appear to leave the first time he charges your door. However, for the 3 AM and 4 AM attacks, you must prepare to close and listen intently for his charge if you wish to stop him in time.
6. Listening is key. Freddy and Chica (as well as possibly Bonnie) will disappear completely from your cameras after their first attack. The best way to save enough power to make it to 5 AM before running out of power is to listen for them to approach. Specifically, note the footstep sounds. Listen carefully to the direction, volume, and length of the footstep noises on your right and left. If it's on the right, easy to hear, and Chica is not in camera 4B, it is most likely Chica passing by your right door. Keep your light off and watch your right doorway carefully for a few seconds to see if her right arms appears moving towards the right of the door. Keep your door open, but prepare to close it. If you hear this sound again but find that Chica is not walking by your door, close it immediately as she is at your door (this sound may also be slightly shorter). If there is a quiet footstep sound to your left, Bonnie is moving to the left-hand closet. Keep your door open.
7. When Bonnie appears at your left door, it is easy to see him without your light. You can also see his feet while he walks by your door. Keep your light off in both instances.

There are still many times where death may be inevitable using this strategy. However, understanding how Freddy and Foxy work as well as how your door lights are not always needed allows you to survive longer. Good luck.

If the current GTLive steam is anythign to go by you can force foxy to charge you by sticking your head out the closed left door. A way to avoid having him come in on the door spam. (That door spam during foxy is a terrible game mechanic.)

Did you actually end up beating it? I'm pretty good at the VR version of FNAF 1, didn't struggle with it in the slightest until Night 5. Every single time that I tried, the doors would open when Foxy was scratching on them and it would kill me. I'm confident I could beat it once I learn how to combat the doors opening during a Foxy attack.

You've listed 1, 3, and 4 AM as Foxy-attacking times. Is that including having the camera locked on him the entire night? Or is that with the camera never being on Pirate Cove?

Also, do the doors freak out in a set time interval? I've been too distracted to keep track while in game.

Edit: Just watched the Game Theory live stream where they beat it, guess I have some work to do.

Answering your questions in order.

Yes, I've beaten it.

For the most part, my camera was locked on Foxy. I did check Chica and Freddy on occasion, however.

The doors seem mostly random, although I have noticed they activate around 0-2 times per hour.

This is one way you beat Night 5 but I will offer up a 2nd strategy. My strat involves watching Freddy and not Foxy.

Freddy:
Keep the Camera on him at all times and follow him around the pizzeria. Even put the cam on the kitchen when he is in there. If done he will not leave camera 4B till aprox. 4 am. At this point I close the right door and ignore it for the rest of the night.

Foxy:
Foxy was attacking after the 3rd door glitch (1am), around 4 am and just before 6 am very consistently. I never triggered him early and was always vigilant to be hanging over the door button waiting for his run noise. After I closed the right door I switch the camera to Foxy and watch him like a hawk.

Chica and Bonnie:
It's easy to hear their footsteps with headphones and if they take 5 you know they are walking past. Even without lights you can see Chica's wing or Bonnie's shoes. My screen is too dark to find a reliable way to see if they leave when the doors are closed so the only times I hit the lights was to see if they were gone or turn off the lights after a door glitch.

This method should leave you with plenty of power to get deep into 5 am. However, Foxy loves to attack when you have less than 10% power and well that's an insta death. If you see Foxy move into his stage 2 position when close the doors, turn the lights on and kill the power. Keep still to help trigger Freddy's long jumpscare and you should easily see the 6 am roll over.

I think keeping your camera on freddy to slow him down, then checking on foxy every 7-10 seconds is a sound strategy, as i believe foxy becomes more active if you check him to rarely or to often. The lights seem a little useless, so I did not use them. For the most part, listening to the audio cues, is an important part of the game. I was able to beat the level in less than 50 minutes using this tactic, but then again this might just be luck.

After about 3.5 to 4 hours of playing Night 5 on a live stream, I was able to beat it. Here's some updated information I determined while playing.

===== Foxy

It doesn't matter whether you watch Foxy or not, he will hit your door 3 times in the night and it's pure chance whether the doors glitch out and open on their own or not. I found that about 90% of my deaths to Foxy were because of the stupid doors opening on their own and 10% of the deaths were because I was below 10% power when he attacked.

Even though I said it's not necessary, I recommend leaving the camera on Foxy for two reasons.
1. There's no other functional use for the cameras. Bonnie and Chica can be seen at your doors long before they kill you and Freddy's location can be determined based on how many times he has laughed (see below).
2. You'll know sooner when he's going to attack instead of just listening for his footsteps.

If you are getting close to 10% power and you think Foxy is going to attack after you dip below, I recommend closing the left door and poking your head through it to trigger him early. You might end up with about 1-5% power afterwards, but sitting in the darkness and hoping for 6 AM to happen before you die is better than a guaranteed death.

===== Freddy

Freddy laughs when he moves rooms and he has an exact path he doesn't waver from.
On his 3rd laugh, he will be in the kitchen and you will hear his music box play in the speakers. You may also hear Bonnie's music box play around the same time, but they are different songs. I frequently had them both playing at the same time.
On his 5th laugh, Freddy will be at camera 4B. I did not notice him taking any longer while watching him on the cameras, despite what some other people have claimed. It seems to be pure chance how long it will take him to laugh 5 times. I've found that his fifth laugh tends to happen somewhere between 2:30 and 3:30 A.M.
His 6th laugh will occur exactly 33 seconds after reaching 4B and if you do not have the right door closed, he will kill you. I was comfortably waiting 25 seconds before closing the door, but you could be more risky if you're struggling for power at the end of the night.

From this point forward, every laugh will cause Freddy to alternate between trying to get into your office and... not doing that. The working theory seems to be that he goes back to 4B, but he will not show up on the cameras anymore so I can't say for sure. At the very least, he is still very close. Therefore, it's crucial to keep track of what he is trying to do at all times. I found that I could comfortably open the right door for 6 to 10 seconds after every 2nd laugh unless Chica was there.

Once I had this strategy solidified, I frequently made it to 5 AM and it was just a matter of luck whether I had saved enough power to make it far enough into 5 AM so that it would turn over to 6 when the power went out.

I agree with every point save this one. When I played, I was able to keep my right door open around twelve seconds each time after he laughed, not every other laugh. This saves a lot more power, even if it's riskier regarding Chica.

I have a problem with Freddy, Foxy doesn"t come out, I even had a game where he didn't even showed his head, but Freddy is literally camping 4B, he is not leaving and when he does, Chica is by the door. I lost 3 times at 4am and once at 5am. Foxy is not leaving his cave, but Freddy is not also leaving 4b and focing me to have my doors shutted for literally 3h straight without movig, what to do?
