Small scale room
Hi everybody! I was pretty excited (relatively speaking) to give this game a shot, only to realize that my room may inhibit my abilities to press certain buttons and use certain features (ex: the prize counter button is "physically inside" my bed so I can't press it). I quickly refunded the game because I want to find solutions to my problems first. I will for sure consider repurchasing it if my needs are met.

I tried FNAF 1 with only a little objection from my bed, but I fear that plenty of the other features and game modes may be rendered useless. For frame of reference, my room barely covers the minimum space (I think it's like 2 by 2 meters or something similar) This should be almost enough, but physical objects may block virtual objects.

I've been scavenging the interwebs and Steam forums for any advice that may prove handy, but alas, not much has been found.

Thank you for your time!

I tried playing this game from my bed. It's pretty much impossible if you're trying to get all the tapes and coins. I had to resort to what little free space I had in my room, which was something like 4 by 4 feet (which translates to about 1.2 by 1.2 meters). While Help Wanted is playable in the space I got, I often find myself bumping into my stuff and in one case of trying to grab a coin, I literally had to reach under some furniture irl and I had to pray the sensors wouldn't lose track of my hands. I did eventually get the coin after the 5th try. For reference, this was either Parts and Service with Freddy or Foxy, I can't exactly remember which one it was from the top of my head. I do remember struggling on both because of my limited space.

I haven't 100% completed the game yet, so while I can't say if the full game is achievable with the limited space, I can say which sections gave me the most difficulty due to not having optimal space. Those were FNAF 3 and Parts and Service (especially Freddy and Foxy). All the others are fine, with the exception of Night Terrors which I can't say for sure since I only got through the Funtime Freddy level by bugging him out.

Either way, having a small space sucks, it ain't a thing most of us can fix easily, and I hope Steel Wool can find a solution for those of us who have to play with claustrophobic conditions.

I do appreciate you sharing your struggles with physical space. However, despite my concerns, I feel that this game was designed for room scale. This being that one does not have to dedicate time to teleport or slide over to the door to shut Foxy out in time, which I hear takes just about two seconds.

If your room meets minimum requirements for Oculus VR (1m x 1m) then you should be fine. VR isn't supposed to be played in a room with objects so it's recommended you leave that out when making the play area and if it's under the requirements then you can't do anything about it because the game adjusts to your play area (which needs to be at least 1m x 1m or 2m x 2m for steam vr) so things will be out of your reach.

Well that's... comforting. I have large objects in my room that are necessary so I don't think there's anything I can do about that. I did, however, find some people talking about some workarounds. For instance, I heard a little bit about "resetting seated position" or something similar. I've personally never dealt with this feature, so I don't know how to utilize it even if I wanted to. Perhaps, someone can enlighten me on this feature?

I just looked it up. For Steam VR, Room Scale has a minimum requirement of 2m x 1.5m. My configuration, Standing Only, does not have any minimum requirements.

I've seen that feature in the Steam VR menus, and I think I've tried it a few times, but it doesn't appear to do anything from my experience.

So, I've found the reset seated position option, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Maybe this is because I've set my room for "room scale" by pretending that none of my furniture exists. Perhaps, if I set to standing only, the option may work?

My configuration is Standing Only. Reset Seated Position doesn't seem to do anything for me.

But I don't think this game even works with Standing Only (At least it's built for room-size VR)? The Steam VR Setup is awful in my experience, it forces you to find space you don't have to play most games.

Hmm. That's pretty unfortunate. Perhaps, all we can do is hope they implement some form of teleportation that can give us mobility while not getting in the way of gameplay.

Hi! Sorry to keep this thread going. I've just been thinking about various ways I can compensate for my lack of play space. This method I thought of may seem a little inconvenient, but what if I moved the center of the play area rather than move physical objects? This would require me to resort to Standing Only VR, though. But it could remedy some of my issues.

I personally use Standing Only, so I don't see any cons there except for if you want to play VR games that require Room Scale, which thankfully isn't the case with this game.

I play the game with an Oculus Rift, the software for it has a built in recenter position that I have been able to use in some games to move closer to objects. It worked for this game, it messes some up though, a lot of the times it likes to spawn me under the floor when I try to recenter.
I also have a small play area, around 1m x 1.5m.

Very nice! I may give this game another chance. Though, the intimidation factor FNAF has is a slight... deterrent. I mean, I have played Dreadhalls, which is quite the experience, so I'm no horror newbie.
