Random Expert levels
Hi all. Been playing this nonstop since I bought it. Awesome, can't believe I missed this when it came out. Anyway, I'm now playing the random games but simply cannot find a way to beat the Random Expert levels. The ones where you're attacked within 2 or 3 days with like six dragons and a bunch of goblins/wargs/whatever. Surely this is due to a flaw in my build order, but I simply cannot beat this. The only luck I've had are with Barbarians, but even they die eventually and I run out of money.

My build order is usually: rouges, upgrade castle, barbarian spam. Sometimes I'll mix it up with gnomes, blacksmith, and market place but it doesn't seem to help.

I suppose if I can beat this, the rest of the game will be cake, so I almost hope there's no answer but luck :P

Thanks!

Ah well, figured it out. Dragons can't hurt skeletons (easily). So swarm priestesses. :)

you could try Rangers first, to explore area a little more, then upgrade, Instead of barbarians(Lore makes them not work with any temple) maybe try temples of krypta, or healers and monks

You should not either underestimate the regular warriors, they are quite tanky at the start(when compared to any other class) and if combined with the sheer dps of the wizards it's a good one two punch

I build rangers, market, warriors, blacksmith, castle, then whatever according to my needs. Also use the speed control to optimize your build for specific enemies.

Yup swarm prestis, with mages for the damage is my general strat on expert.

I put rangers market than warriors. They have good HP and rangers and cover. Should get you through first strech.

Yeah I think I started out with rangers and then Krypta.

Hmm I'd suggest builng ballista towers if you get the chance, but since that will take too long, i'd go:Gnome Hovel, Marketplace, upgrade castle, warriors hall, warriors hall, temple of krypta, temple of fervus, mass warriors of discord/priestesses. The warriors of discord will soak up alot of damage before going down, and the priestess' skeletons and magic wlll provide enough support dps to down them. Then go into your blacksmith/dwarven settlement/ballistae. Not sure if you'd be able to do that in time, though. :/

I did not think gnomes counted to upgrade castle.

They don't - they're just excellenyt for harder levels when you need to build up your town quickly. Oh and I got the order mixed up, build the first warriors hall and recrui four wars then upgrade.

Well, the problem is that dragons kill just about anything they hit in one or two strikes. That's why I had to spam skeletons 'cause the flame always misses or isn't effective against bone or whatever. Then my priestesses can hit the dragons while they're distracted by the skeletons.
Works about 70% of the time, as sometimes the dragons will focus on the priestess instead and kill them.

Priestess skellys good for dragons because skelly have high dodge. Other strategies are:

- lvl up Wizard guild and use spells + active towers
- rush dwarves and use ballista towers
- paladins are viable but you have to be quick and flexible with backup which must be 8+ agrela minimum
- Krolm + elven gold bonus for krolm spam
- guardhouses + helia

Obviously these are just basic ideas that won't work without a solid overall economic strategy (the core of any game). My favourite random game modifiers are "Super Lairs" + "Respawning Lairs" or "Evil Everywhere" + "Goblin Rush" or "Goblin Rush" + "Cannon Fodder" obviously with Expert map and settings and starting with only a level 1 palace. Those games can sometimes be hard to get a foothold but eventually you end up with the most epic kingdom imagineable.

I go rangers + market upgrade castle then krypta + fervus and win with the skeleton and animal spam
