Always wanted to know what each of the stats do?
For example I was never quite sure... does strength on a hero increase their damage at all or no?

Primary Attributes:
  • Strength increases physical damage (1 for every 8 points)
  • Intelligence increases magic damage (1 for every 8 points) and as Aidinthel mentioned, this does affect how heroes will act, including buying healing potions and such
  • Vitality increases the max hp added at level up (1 for every 4 points), keep in mind, hp increases are random, this just increases the possible amount added
  • Artifice increases the chance a hero will try to steal (basically useless)
  • Willpower prevents heroes from wasting money in places like elven lounges (not that big of a change)

Secondary Attributes:
  • Hand to Hand is the percent chance a melee attack will "hit" the target with a melee attack
  • Ranged is the percent chance a ranged attack will "hit" the target with a melee attack
  • Parry is the percent chance a melee attack will be avoided after the enemy successfully rolls a "hit"
  • Dodge is the percent chance a ranged attack will be avoided after the enemy successfully rolls a "hit"
  • Resist is the percent chance a magic attack will be avoided

Thank you for posting this list, EVWeb  I knew what most of the stats did but not all of them, and the point breakdowns are great to know too!

Intelligence also affects behavior to an extent, right? The library says that high intelligence heroes will come to learn spells.

Damn you guys are so amazing with your helpful hints. I never would have known any of this..... And that is crazy its every 8 levels that explains why i dont always see immediate increases. I am forever favoriting this lol.

Ty so much EVWeb. And ty Aidinthel.. Maybe we should add this to that Majesty Wiki? Its pretty bare bones but alot of people would love to this under stats page or something. I wouldn't mind editing it but Im afraid ill mess something up

Also I always knew about the Intelligence thing affecting behavior only because I read a long time ago to get WoD to be slightly less stupid you needed a bazillion librariries to increase their INT at spawn.

Sad to see ART not have any real benefits, that makes Rogues pretty trash except as fodder to get to level 2 Palace.

I am trying to think of all the good heroes who have STR or INT as their main stat and it makes sense for them.

So even though its INT for Paladin they would really do better with STR.
Adepts I think go with STR
Solarii STR?
Warriors STR
Rangers are surprisingly STR which should make them powerhouses later
WoD are not STR when they should at least be with as dumb as they are.
I feel like im missing a few others.

There are a bunch of other little things that some of the stats affect. For instance, when a hero is deciding where to buy equipment, their intelligence stat is a factor (higher intelligence = willing to travel a longer distance to get to that building). Same for when rogues/rangers collect plants, the intelligence modifies how big of a search distance they do.

Similarly, when a hero is deciding whether to poison their weapon at a rogue's guild, their artifice is a factor in how far away they are willing to travel to do it (higher artifice = travel longer distance).

For tournaments, the stats of heroes determine if they are able to participate. A hero needs a high ranged stat in order to participate in a ranged tourney, high hand-to-hand to participate in a melee tourney, and high intelligence to participate in a magic tourney (this is why you sometimes get non-spell casters that will join a magic tourney). Technically, "high" is kind of not true since it's a random dice roll to determine if they can get in, but having a higher stat makes it more likely (example below is for ranged tourney):
//Archer's Tourney! Do I want to go? If ($getattribute (ThisAgent, #ATTRIB_Ranged) > $RandomNumber (100) + 1) going_to_event = TRUE;
Basically if their ranged stat is higher than a random number between 1 and 100, they will get in. So if a hero has a ranged stat of 1 or less, they would never be able to join a ranged tourney. This means even a hero with a ranged stat of 2 has a chance (albeit very, very low) of getting into a ranged tourney.

Yooo, this explains why my WoDs never buy new equipment. x,D
I guess this makes a case for building multiple blacksmiths spread around the map, eh?

Not multiple blacksmiths but rather massive amounts of Libraries before you ever recruit WoDs so that they get extra INT on spawn and have a better CHANcE at trying to buy stuff lol
