Legendary Heroes
I hate this mission so much. The rest of the game is super fun, but this mission... I am dead on the inside.:steamsad:

LOL! :) Yeah, that one is rather difficult.
The mission I think I typically avoid re-playing is Day of Reckoning.

I thought Day of Reckoning was going to be a bear, but I somehow got through it my first try. I thought that hardest part of that one was the black phantoms. Those phantoms just straight up murder heroes.

FINALLY! Just did it!!!

Black phantoms are always pretty murdersome, but their exploding aura spell has the (odd?) feature of being spread across all affected targets, so if you can mob them in groups (and/or use antimagic shield near base) you can do much better damage-control.

For Legendary Heroes, there's also a bunch of tips here.

You can persevere! Somehow I managed to do it!

You'll disbelieve your screen when you finally get the victory message though. It seems impossible

Yeah, took about 20 tries, but I finally got it. I used the wiz tower strat mostly. Eco'ed really hard for the first half, then used heroes to get 3 of the barrows. Then for the last three I did the wiz tower spam.:steamhappy:

Its not that the mission is hard, its just so tedious and against Majesty (having to use buildings opposed to heroes).
Surviving then mopping up the map with your heroes is 1000x more fun than the mission itself.

And then you learn most relics are broken :/

The thing that gets me with Legendary Heroes is that you don't get enough time. The enemies are manageable enough... I can just hardly ever get the whole map explored before the 30 days are up. :/
I've had to use the revelation cheat to complete this one on more than one occasion, lol.

wizard towers and luck (and spamming the save button).

So so hard

Actually, that's how a lot of spells work, like fireblast. It is, in fact, a bunch of projectiles that hit as many targets as possible, but only focus one if only one is available.

Not sure if those projectiles of phantoms have AoE in their own right though. I remember having more success with solo paladins than with gangs. Perhaps, they have certain cap on shots per target, which is lower than total amount of shots? Not sure.

Or mayble it's been too long since I've played.

True for fire blast, though I don't recall any other examples (fireball just does straight equivalent damage to enemies in range. Mmm. Sweet, sweet fireball.)

The only AOEs I can think of right now are the thing phantoms do, the thing WoDs do, Lightning Storm, and (although it behaves differently) Chain Lightning.
Earthquake too, although it targets buildings' health, not people/creatures.

Like poster above said, fireball (level 5 one) is a legit AoE.

Oh yeah, and Meteor Storm.

Tough one. It acts like a turret, in fact, but if number of projectiles it shoots at once always matches the number of targets around, that's effectively a regular AoE.

Wait a second. How does Meteor Storm behave, exactly?
