Pay attention to the terrain and focus on taking industrial centers.
Also the airpower. You want to bomb the Frankists and not getting bombed by them. The AI so often forgets figters/ bombers/ both in Madrid or Valencia. There is a good chance you may grab a bonus, which would be helpful since for a long time you'll be facing odds which are not in your favor.
Have fun & save the Republic!
p.s.: sorry, know you didn't ask for advice/ opinions about this :D Share your startegy? :3
I won this a lot of times in HoI 3 lol
p.s.: it's a bit gamey, but... just before the rumble start, you may reposition the fleet to the only naval base that stays in your hands for sure (between Bacelona and Valencia). And for me a place for endless counterattacksa and retreats is the plains betweenMadrid and Zaragoza. In 3 out of 4 Spain games for me it's an endless seesaw.
Also another idea- upgrading not only the model, but also the type? The militia and especially the garrison look much better as Inf/ Cav (though it takes more time than plain upgade, that's true)
Republican Spain's advantage is that it controls more IC. The fascists can't really research new technology effectively so if you can hold onto your IC and upgrade your army you have a chance. If you want to spam huge numbers of low quality troops consider People's war doctrine.
Once you win, you'll probably get beat up by Nazi Germany.
