In the 1936 start (not sure about 1933) you can manage it by triggering the Revolution event.
What you need to do is to get dissent up to 80% and hold it there or higher until the event fires.
You get a choice between Communist and Fascist - mind you, one of the choices won't completely kill your dissent, but both will remove most of it.
There's a couple of ways to quickly raise your dissent, but the best is probably building up enough money to afford cancelling all the US non-aggression pacts in the 1936 scenarios in one go (5% dissent each).
That's specifically for the US, though.
And then there's cheats - "Freedom" unlocks sliders so you can move your politics whichever way you want.
EDIT:
Actually, decided to check the US event. My memory was a bit fuzzy.
At the start fo the 1936 scenario, you can cancel the US non-aggression pacts for 0 money to get 80-100% dissent.
You should get a revolution before the end of the first month.
Going Communist (Stalinist) will reduce your dissent by 40%, Socialist (Left Wing Radical) reduces it by 20% (the rest you have to do manually).
To go fascist you can IIRC use the normal election events.
