Darkest Hour: A Hearts of Iron Game

should I buy
I am thinking of buying a HOI game. Either this version or HOI 4. My worries is that my pc is rather new and using windows 10, and I have read that many are having troubles running this game on windows 10.

Any comments on this?

Well, you would have no problems running DH on Win 10 x32, but well, HoI4 is runing bad on this configuration. HoI4 requier more than 2gb of RAM for stable framerate. But one good solution. Darkest Hour is on sale on GOG.com, cheap as dirt, i think its easy to afford both of this games, but on different platforms

If you can't play it you'll know pretty quickly. Just refund the game if you can't run it.

Just aheads up you may have some problems if you have the new AMD drivers. If this happens just disable sprites for DH.

I don't know about the W10 issue, because I have W8, but this game and HOI4 are very different.

I've know HoI since HoI2 Doomsday and tried playing it from that time, it never managed to get into my head until I played a little of the 4th game. It was more of a problem with understanding how warfare worked then. After that I came back to playing this one, that I had bought but never really played it much, for reasons already explained, and now I just can't get enough, be it the base DH game or the Kaiserreich mod.

My OS is x64 and I can run the game fine. The only problem is trying to run it in windowed mode, as it is impossible. It needs to run in 32bit mode but I think there's no way to do this since W8.

I am running 64 bit windows 10, and it does run fine for me. Until a good while into the game when theres over 500 divisions across the map, then it runs slowly, but thats not because of my pc as i have a great setup. But I dont know if thats the game optimization or because i have W10.
Edit: The game runs perfectly the next day.

How hard it is to learn? For me the HOI4 was like ... 8/10 in hardness (noob with grand strategies, apart from Civ-series (not huge fan though) and 10/10 would be the most hardest i'd be willing to learn. Hoi3 i tried, but it turned out to be 12/10, mainly because most of the youtubers had different DLC (i made the error not getting all the dlc and then lost interest) and the ingame tutorial was next to useless. So is it easier to learn than Hoi3?

ugh, hoi3 was a mess, I never managed to get into it. It's been a very long time since I learned to play hoi2, but in my experience it's certainly more playable/easier to get into than 3.

if hoi 4 was a 8/10 then hearts of iron darkest hour will be a 11/10 xD
It's much more complicated as hoi 4. You can not compare darkest hour with hoi 4. Hoi 4 is a very simple hoi (for multiplayer matched) while darkest hour and hoi 3 are very detailed and for hardcore strategy fans. it maybe takes some horus till you learn the most things, but ater this you will have the best hearts of iron 2 singleplayer. ;)

and ya i think it's a little bit easier as hoi 3. As bel riose said: hoi 3 was a mess. It got a lot of critic. But finally you can buy the a newer versin of hoi 2. (darkest hour) it's the best hoi game ever;)

hoi4 is not even half as hard to learn as that game
but that's not a great thing considering hoi4 ai is, well, its just useless
